It's still a license so violating it could lead to getting sued for lots of $$. I guess they don't have the choice to care.
Plus, most people don't even know why they dropped the code so they look like the good guys. It's a win win situation for them

Kinda had a feeling it'd be dropped. Microsoft sucks anyways. :P
