Hello,

I am looking for a hosting to use as backup storage (i.e., private Web access, relatively low traffic and using the disk space to upload/download files).

FTP access is common nowadays; using SSH/SCP and Rsync would also be a good option.

I need a reliable, cost-effective hosting company allowing using the Web space for backup purposes.

The optimal would be to find a service dedicated to backup hosting, like BQInternet.

I know about Amazon S3 and RackSpaceCloud CloudFiles (I use both), I need a 'usual' reliable and not too expensive hosting, as well.

The resources:
- Reliable hosting provider, several years in business, with ToS/AUP allowing to use hosting for backup purposes.
- 20Gb+ of disk space
- 10Gb/mo traffic or more
- budget: around 4$/month for the mentioned amount of resources

All the offers are welcome, with the similar cost/amount ratio.

Thanks!

You did not mention about your budget. May we know your budget?

Thanks, added a line about budget.
I have also corrected the current needs - I won't need all the 100Gb of storage at once, that's projected usage during a year.

Thanks, the resources are quite acceptable - but may I use it for backup purposes (i.e., adding many files not linked on the hosted Web site)?

Upd Sorry, didn't see the plan names, "Backup". I think I'll give it a try, thanks.

On the most of web hosting companies there are no web hosting services called backup.
You may use any shared or VPS account for that. Of course for $4 that would be impossible

Just to sum up. Yes, I managed to find several backup-only accounts. Quite stable, AFAIK. Both plans are below $5. Not that I am out of money - if a stable backup costs so little, why not to use it?

Also, I use Amazon S3 for backup purposes. Along with the above, it''s enough redundancy.

Thanks for all the pieces of advice.
