Hello,
Just pretty much a heads up to all looking for a dedicated server provider, I have been with Softlayer for 3 months now in my second spell with them, And I was with them for a year or 2 back when they started.
Pre Sales - 10/10
No points can be lost for this one, for my first server back in december, Arielle helped me make this decision they really know what they are talking about, for sales people that is amazing as usually when questioned its "oh ill find that out" or "one moment please" she really knew what she was talking about
Post Sales - 10/10
Since buying my first server back in december with SL, I have been back for another 3 and hopefully many more as the post sales is just as good as pre-sales and the discounts available are second to none!
Hardware - 10/10
Cannot praise the hardware Softlayer use enough, as they say you get what you pay for and this is certainly the case here. Server was setup within 2 hours and the fact you can see exactly how the status is on the build is great.
They even installed OpenVZ even though they don't support it as such, and never even made me submit an administration ticket which costs $3 per install instance, all was done free!
Server Itself - 10/10
The server in itself is absolutely brilliant value for money, even got a few extras flung in for free, and since deployment the server hasn't went down, needed a reboot nor has the load went any higher than 0.20
Softlayers Portal Client System - 10/10
This is an absolutely amazing feature, the main points for me is the ability to reload the OS myself and it to happen instantly at the click of a button. With my previous Provider Burst it was charged at $25 per OS reload instance and took hours depending on the availability of technicians to complete the task.
Also the ability to reboot the server without having to open a ticket, not had to use this yet thankfully but it is a great feature.
Support - 10/10
The support has been amazing the few times I have had to use this, I have submitted tickets at all times of the day and always had a response and the problem resolved within 15 minutes. None of the usual "I will pass this to xyz" so the tickets look asif they are being dealt with faster, it was straight to the point and resolved promptly
Staff - 10/10
Over the time I have became quite friendly with Michael Laude & Mary Hall simply because they are so helpfull, If ever you are in need of help then there is no doubt if you deal with the 2 mentioned you will be in safe hands, same goes to all the staff at SL.
Overall - 10/10
I really cant fault Softlayer at all, I have fallen in love once again with all the features that they have in comparison to most other companys and the time saved in being able to do all the things yourself is amazing.
I was foolish to leave them the first time because I seen a cheap offer with another company, but the extra few bucks you pay at SL really could make your buisiness more in the time saved if you encounter any problems or downtime.
