Okay, I know that this is a VERY stupid question, but anyways, here goes. Does anyone know where to get a FREE .COM or .NET domain name?

not neccessarily a scam you have to get 100 points and it is hard. you get 5 points for each of your friends who sign up and you also get varying amounts of points for signing up for offers. Its really hard but if you have alot of friends you can do it.

There are hosting companies out there who throw in a free domain when you sign up for their service.. I even came across one which offers a 7 day free trial and if you decide not to host with them, the domain is yours to keep. But I'd imagine they'll try to hold on to your domain or something, because otherwise they won't be making profit at all.
And going off-topic here... Why are you advertising for --------?! Do you work with them? *shudders*

Every time I check for a domain name, it says " Unknown Regestrant (Domain Name Unavailable)"

I wouldn't go with webnax, personally. They claim to offer free websites, but in their FAQs they mention something like "we accept Visa, Mastercard, and Eurocards" and "we're a paid hosting service". AND, I suspect that you can only get free domains with co.uk or org.uk extension. Everything else would come up with an "unknown registrant" message. Hmph.

Webnex doesn't give any free domains anymore so take that out of the list. Im sorry im even listed it. The only free domain company is www.------------------. I am pretty sure it is not a scam. I asked there partner, your-webhost.com and they said it wasn't. I will prove it is not a scam by getting dmbtech.net!

Will the domain from ------------------ (http://www.------------------/) be registered under your name or their name after you have reached 100 points?

It actully uses premiem hosting from your-webhost.com. I think there are really a domain reseller from them.
Is there any other free domain place? Namezero no longer works and same with namezero. The one listed before requires you to have 150 visits per-day. ------------------ is impossibal to get 100 points?

Why can't anyone hack these companies, and tell everyone how to get a free .ca/.com/.net/.org/.yougetthepoint (lol)?

www.dot.tk these are free, the options are somewhat limited. No three letter characters, or any trademarks registered by Fortune 500 companies, which is nearly almost every good domain.
But, a free dot com is no longer possible.

i think .tk's cost $10 if you want the domain registered in your name but otherwise its free and the company owns it
anyway domains are pretty cheap now
https://www.reg2c.com/ $6.95USD
http://www.namecheap.com 9USD
http://www.godaddy.com 8.85 USD

<edit>
nvm...
NameDemo is no longer registering domain names for free, but it will continue to support existing NameDemo.com customers who have already registered a name.
Namezero used to give free domains too, but i guess they charge now...
