Hi all, this is my first post here, hope you will be able to assist...
I've checked around 40 free hosts and still haven't found one that would suit my needs... This is really frustrating...

Here's what i need:
5 MB would be perfectly good, as long as the file size limit isn't absurdic (500k should be ok)
CGI
FTP Access
Reasonable bandwidth
No ads, will settle for a small pop up if there is no other choice

Last one, my site is non-english, and looks like some hosts don't accept this.

Another weird thing, I tried to sign up to United.com.kg and DK3, but for some reason I can't log in to the FTP server :(

Can anyone help? I don't think my demands are unacceptable...

I'm surprised you went for United.com.kg if you wanted reasonable bandwidth because after all, they are a Portland reseller (only 100 MB transfer per month). CGI hosts are rare nowadays. The only reliable ones I am familiar with are Prohosting (http://free.prohosting.com) (which offers CGI, and you can turn your banner ads into pop-ups instead) and Netfirms (http://www.netfirms.com) (only option is banner). Check their TOS to make sure they allow foreign sites.

Thanks for the quick reply. I knew about the poor b/w at United, but it was the only option left... Doesn't work anyway.

Just tried ProHosing, the sign up page returns with a message "Your request could not be processed, please contact support with the following reference number: I."... Are sign ups down?

You should also try VR9.com if they will host non-English sites.

VR9 does not allow non english sites (actually, site "must contain at least 60% English Content").
I signed up for Silverpark, they should review my request in 48 hours, just hope they'll accecpt non english...

Thanks guys.

But hello...if united.com.kg is OK with you why don't you just sign up with portland's directly?
