goto http://www.cheapbytes.com and get the latest realese of manrake (it just came out a few days ago so it has all the latest stuff). Mandrake is super easy to install and works well with most hardware. Its defintally your best choice.

when you get it up and running goto www.linuxnewbie.org and read some of thier tutroials

i personally like slackware the best but i don't mind redhat and mandrake. Redhat and Mandrake take some of the fun out of linux. I used to love/hate the old installers and installing X by myself... those were to good times. Now thier getting cream puffy and windowsarized
