View Full Version : Looking for a host with the following

I've looked around, and found one host that suites my needs, ( http://interserver.net/, the Mini plan) but want other hosts to look at and compare to.

Here's what i'm looking for minumum in terms of space/bandwidth:
200 MB Space
5 GB Bandwidth

Although, prefered would be these (Or greater, I don't like worring overly and count ever bit stored and transfered.)
300 MB space
7 GB bandwidth

Pretty standard stuff in terms of that.

However it's the features that become something of a sticky part, at least from what I've seen. Besides the usual of php, perl and mysql (I like to tinker and learn), I'm looking for a host that provides:

multiple FTP accounts (idealy, 5 or more) tied to individual folders

and perhaps subdomains (not tied to unique IP's, ones that can point to subdirectories)

Price I'm looking at is somewhere in the region of $20 USD (can be higher, prefer lower), and with a proven and reliable host.

Truth be known, I'd much rather have a dedicated server to play with, but it's simply out of my buget (at least for the next 5 months or so) from what I've seen in terms of price.

http://www.gearhost.net

when comparing interserver.net's mini plan and gearhost.net's gold plan: more space, more transfer, and lots cheaper. pretty damn good prices... never used them myself though.

250 megs space
20 gigs transfer
1+5 domains
15 ftp accounts
$9.95/mo

not too shabby.

Are you hosted at Aletia, now? I hear people are leaving in droves because of overcrowded servers and non-existant support. The threads on WHT about them are appearing every day, too...........
