Ram

How can you tell what type of RAM you have in your computer without actually popping open the case and looking at the RAM chip itself? Is that possible? Thanks.

What I have that can do it is Sisoft Sandra (there is a free version).

If you know what type of motherboard you have you can probably tell from that.

Or you could have just right-clicked on My Computer and choose Properties, then click on the Performance tab, is says right there what your RAM is, at least on my machine...

EDIT: Nevermind, I just re-read your post, you wanted to know what type of RAM...

I believe the best way would be if you had your documentation of your motherboard. It usually says what types of RAM chips are on your motherboard.

well i myself wanted more ram.. but my mother board coudn't handle it....

most older-computers... they use SDRAM...
newer computers... using DDR Ram...

I THINK~ i'm not 100% sure... or just try going to your computers manufacturers website and do a search on your computer model and it would probably give you what you need :p

I went to Crucial.com and used their search/matching feature. If you know the make and model of your computer then Crucial has the type of RAM that is needed for it.

Its a custom built computer. And trenzterra, it should be under RAM or Memory.
