I just cheked the active monitor on my cracked out Piece of ---- RaQ, and this is what I saw:

The processor is currently 48 degress Celsius
The system has been running for
0 Days 6 Hours and 42 Minutes.


Maybe it will catch on fire.
Hell If It does I hope the Datacentre Burns with it. Bwahahaha.

It can be fun to watch the CPU go up in smoke as long as it isn't yours. :D That is an insane load average, what was running on it? I assume you killed the run away process?

Nah, I restarted it. its a few degrees cooler now. and its down to 65.56 load average.

I have no Idea what is causing the load average to be so high.

Thats what I hate about RaQ's, they have low power CPUs (RaQ 4 has 450MHz I think)

Its a 450 AMD, and when it first came out, I was considered quite a beast.. but yeah, its nothing to write home to mum about. It can still handle quite a decent load however, ours does anyways :) Its load is usually sitting at around .80

I did a restart and the load is down to 3.59 (cpu state 20% IDLE)

restarting a server isn't going to solve all its problem mate. I would suggest you have a look at top, and see what is causing such a high load. You really shouldn't go over 2.00 - 2.50, or you will have problems. Read through your logs and find out what gwanin'.

Well, it doesnt answer to many questions.. just watch the logs in:

tail -f /etc/httpd/logs/access

and even:

tail -f /var/log/messages

Also, to kill a PID in top, press k, then type the PID number, hit enter, and enter again.. that should slow things down for the time being so you can check out whats going on.

Edit:

Your swap is going to cause problems if you start using to much of it. You can clear it with the following commands:

Turn Swap off / Clear:
swapoff -a

Turn Swap back on:
swapon -a

Actualy i do know the girls are 18 because i have personaly taken most of the pictures there, the other onse have been given to me by another webmaster whos friend took them. You aren't getting one. I trust Jan's opinion and when she says they were far under 18 I trust her. It would be illegal for me to even view it not to mention sick in general. I've had to delete customer accounts for adult content before and had it been under 18 material their local police department would be receiving a call. It sickens me to even hear about such content and if it truly is under 18 material you should pray that you never meet myself or others with as strong of an opinion as me in public.

Trusting Jan's opinion on this your account has been removed. If it's not under 18 material I apologize but I'm not willing to see it and when two other posters say it is I believe them more so then I believe you.

I've had them go over 400 days of uptime straight but that system was eventually rebooted. Right now this is the server that's gone the longest without a reboot: 2:49am up 328 days, 17:58, 1 user, load average: 0.00, 0.00, 0.00

It's 3:30 AM there and it's a log processing server so the load is non-existent because of the time and scheduling we have set up.

I said I may be wrong in the context that I removed your account without verifying the content first hand. Why? It would be illegal and it sickens me. If you have your own kids or have even watched another persons children for them it should sicken you just as much. I won't review the sites content, if another moderator apart from Jan wants to they can contact you and ask, if they find it doesn't contain any under 18 images you have my apology. However, I don't think they'll want to review your site after two others have already complained of under 18 images.

I trust Jan's judgement completely and if she says they were even borderline that's enough to convince me. Removing it from your profile was of course a good thing but even simple adult content isn't allowed here so that wasn't a matter of over 18 or not. Your account being removed however was and that was a personal judgement call. You should be so fortunate that I don't want to review the site because like I said if I thought it was definitely under 18 material I would be contacting your provider with a complaint to have your site shut down.

If you are innocent I do apologize as you wouldn't deserve to be accused in such case but I doubt that is the case.

I run a free webhost, and I have closed down many sites that have used that legal description to circumvent the law. Those sites might be within their legal rights, but not on my servers, my forums, or any forum I am a mod in. Here, it doesnt matter my opinion. What matters is the opinion of the general audience.

:D That system that's been up forever is only a PIII 800 MHz system. Which was pretty dang impressive when it was first assembled. We do need to replace this system though as WebTrends eats CPU's like you wouldn't believe. CPU's are more powerful but I think I'll wait for the AMD Hammer architecture to be finished up. Once they toss a few faster processors out the door I'll see what I can do.

Those seem like relativly fare responces. But you have to understand where im comeing from. I never ment for anyone to see my site. I never posted it in this thread. I think we already identified the reason for the high CPU load, it's under powered and serving out porn sites which are generally speaking the highest traffic sites on the web. Consider Raq's are the most powerful beasts around to start with I'm sure you mix in a decent amount of traffic and it can't take it.

I think Gayowulf intended this thread to be more humorous then anything and from what is shown on top it looks just like apache has to many requests to fill and not enough power.
