Clear Blue Media are laying off sites:
Dear Publisher,
The market for internet advertising has change dramatically over the past
few months, as I am sure you are aware. As the dollars spent on banner ads
decreases, there is more and more competition for fewer dollars. This has
created a problem for many ad networks catering to small publishers: It is
now possible to buy ad space on Yahoo!, Lycos, and many other large branded
properties at $1.00 CPM, therefore advertisers are much less likely to
purchase space on small-site aggregations such as Clear Blue Media's
network.
Clear Blue Media must adapt to the advertiser's needs. The Clear Blue Media
500 network was developed to meet this need, and we are continuing to
develop and market this network, as well as our wireless and out-of-home
advertising products.
Due to the decreased demand in our original Clear Blue Media network, we are
forced to dramatically reduce the size of the network to match advertiser
demand.
Effective at midnight EST tonight (January 31, 2001) we will no longer be
serving ads to your current ad code. Please remove all instances of Clear
Blue Media banner ad codes from your web pages as soon as possible. If you
are running Gobehinds you have received notice of the new codes and are
welcome to continue running them. You will be paid for all ads delivered
through midnight tonight, according to our regular pay-out schedule. You
will continue to have access to your statistics, and we will send 1099's to
you for 2000 and 2001.
We apologize for the inconvenience that this will surely cause, and we wish
you the best of luck in the future.
Sincerely
