Why is phpBB so ugly?

The default theme of phpBB 2.x is just so ugly. That terrible 1st grader look...the ugly colors of blue and orange...the meaningless images...just about everyone thinks it's ugly. Now it's time to vote on WHY you think it is most ugly. Have fun with this biased poll! :)

Nothing really...I just moderate the support forums, and when they want me to give input on certain features, I voice my concerns.

Note: I don't really get paid $84...However, I get rewarded with things of that worth. I get:

- a Diamond Aimoo Board (worth $60 a year)
- a Super User account (worth $24 a year)

Now, the Super User account allows for 3 MB image hosting (hotlinking enabled), no-ads across the entire Aimoo network, as well as the ability to use "fantasy avatars."

The Diamond account allows me to host 30 hotlinkable images, with a max. file size of 500 KB, I believe. The Diamond account consists of essentially a message board, with mailinglist, chatroom (currently disabled, will be up soon), and image hosting functions. So I get a free message board along with that.

If you're affiliated with another message board it's in rather bad taste to comment on a competitor. In fact this whole thread could be viewed as spam and a way to promote Aimoo. I'll leave it for now but in the future you might not want to comment on a competitor.

The two main colors, orange and blue, are on opposite sides of the color spectrum!
Not that you have to be an art major to know this (which I happened to be, among other things), but orange and blue are complementary colors. Green and red, purple and yellow, etc., are as well. They compliment eachother.

No, Aimoo templates I think are inferior to phpBB2's and it just not as good to use. I think your just trying to hook people on Aimoo which is not working.

The new version of the site is not so bad, but I'm stickin to my guns and going vbulletin all the way. I can't wait until vb3.0 comes out with the new CMS program. :)

It is ugly. That's just a fact. Even if you customize the colors, you must get rid of the first-grade look before it will even be a passing board (C, B, or A) in my eyes.

BTW, roly still claims that it is impossible to customize colors in the control panel. I tried it (and I selected that template as my own), and no changes were made to the actual board itself. However, it did manage to successfully customize the colors in the control panel. :)
