I downloaded about 10 files (1 big program split up) and the file names are
xxx.zip.001
xxx.zip.002
xxx.zip.003
I know winrar has the same format (almost) but it doesnt open in winrar or winzip.
Any ideas how to open it?

Try taking off the numbers and just renaming it to .zip.

They must be called .001 for a reason ...
i had a file ... Setup.exe ... and 2 other files setup.r1 , setup.r2 ... maybe this has the same purpose as your problem :confused2

I don't know if this works but try it....
1) open up notepad
2) type in this: copy /b file.ext+file.ext+file.ext finalfile.ext
3) and just save as > something.bat
4) open it and remember to put it in the same directory as the file that you want to combine together and replace file.ext with the name of the file and its extension.. hope this works
and then use winrar or some zip program to open it

sheesh! Is it that hard to realize?
.001, .002, .003 means the file is split in to 3 pieces. Just combine 'em.

should be able to rejoin them using WinRar. If not, try HJSplit, but it's most likely gonna work with WinRar (just open the .001 file).

Yeah those are definitely HJSplit (http://www.freebyte.com/hjsplit/) files....I don't think WinRar could do anything with them.

you'd be surprised. Somebody somehow managed to make winrar files with the extension .###
i don't know if they renamed it or what, but they did.
