Came across a new host http://www.dedicateservice.com offering 5MB space, ASP, Access DB Support, DirectMail etc.
By the way, their homepage spells Technology as Technologie?!?!

"You must visited your site at least once per month."
Also, try view their site in netscape! No pages worked and the site had a diffrent layout! Either 404 och "The parameter is incorrect". I use netscape + w98.
Stupid site! There are better alternatives.

... according to that host, not worth the time ...
BTW, you should get rid of Netscape, itīs an ignorant browser, mostly slow and incalculable.
If thereīs one thing Microsoft did well, itīs IE.
Believe me, I know what Iīm talking about and if you need proofs let me know ;)
See ya

I can agree, netscape sucks bigtime and if you say you have "good knowledge of the sourcecode of IE" i won't argue with ya! :-)
I truelly don't know why i'm using netscape... i've used it for the past .... ???.... ummm.. i've always used netscape!
but i have ie installed as well. as a webbprogrammer that's a must.
what's the topic!? ok, dedicateservice.com i think thats a poor site and i would never produce sites like that myself. Neither would i let the company i work for to do that as well.

Netscape was really, really good until the version 4's came out and IE 5 was released, but both seem to crash the same number of times.

Okay, EVERY proggy crashes from time to time, no exceptions on browsers but actually I wasnīt talking about how stable they would be...
Iīm talking about the support according to the actual HTML Standard. I.e. Layers, Cascading Style Sheets, Framesets just to name a few. All of those behaviours and functions are not granted to result exactly as they should do using Netscape Navigator. Imagine youīve got a complex design to convert into precise and strict HTML Templates, woah, Iīm annoyed when I see those disgusting and tiresome NN bugs ...
hey, and I do not allege that Iīd back Microsoft that hard but hey Netscape = AOL concern Inc. .... Need I say more?
Okay, Iīm tired of trying to convince those 'rare' people out there who think that Netscape would be the future of web development or something like that, hm, maybe you arenīt one of thos people but youīd be missing something apart from those little and effectful goodies IE comes with.
So far and sorry for this, as itīs not the respective topic ;)

I've thought Netscape sucked for a long time as well... It used to be the best... IE was awful when it first came out (versions 2 & 3), but from 4.0 on, it's been great... And Netscape has just gotten worse. Hell, two of my sites won't even load in Netscape 4 now... I don't know why... I've looked at the code and can't see anything amiss. I've used the same code before and it worked. My stats show such a small percentage of people still using NS 4 that I don't even worry about it now... I'll fix it one of these days, when I have the time. :)

Unfortunately, look at N6 nowadays, the design might be better but the compatibility is even worse.

The reason pages don't load in netscape is because you have errors in your coding. Don't blame the browser for following html. Secondly, only netscape supports the layer command, not ie. Thirdly, due to the fact that netscape doesn't compensate for errors in pages, it loads them faster. Fourthly, Netscape is the only browser that supports Linux and BSD based OS'es. Although I don't run on one of those systems, I still choose netscape, though I don't like a few features in 6.

Netscape 6 adheres to standards more than Internet Explorer ever will.

I stopped using Netscape two years ago, and switched to IE5.5 - some friend talked me into it.
but I still like Netscape, just hate their newer browsers.

The only time that I used Netscrape as my primary browser was three years ago when all I had was a old 486 SX 33mhz compaq.

I installed Netscape on my Win95 computer and it ran like lightning. Then I installed IE 5, and it became much slower. I wonder what Microsoft did to Netscape...

Depends on the site I guess.
Netscape 3 3 ( 0.04%) Windows (PC) 6447 ( 91.75%)
Netscape 4 756 ( 10.76%) Mac 442 ( 6.29%)
MSIE 3 9 ( 0.13%) Unix 48 ( 0.68%)
MSIE 4 1616 ( 23.00%) Other OS 90 ( 1.28%)
MSIE 5 4254 ( 60.54%)
Other browser 389 ( 5.54%)
These are the statistic over one of the sites I administrate. So one of ten is a pretty good guess, at least on my site!
But also, if you have one million visitors, ten percent is 100.000 people and you just give those the finger!? Just like the host we're talking about... http://www.dedicateservice.com , just a reminder! :-)

I hate the fact that Microsoft won the browser wars by actually making a better browser...
anyway, I'm running Linux and we don't get MSIE, for somewhat obvious reasons ;) although someone told me once that somebody had ported the source code over... I'd love to run IE on this machine. The irony would be stunning. :)

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha,
lmao!!!!!!!
sorry, but Iīm a webdeveloper for almost 10 years now and I know how to make PERFECT code. But do whatever you want to, this is too stupid, itīs making me mad that you try to defend this crap.
BTW, i know how to get the code look almost exactly as in IE, though IE is standard and theirīs a good reason behind it and I guess you didnīt read my previous posts, i.e. Netscape doesnīt interpret Style Sheets as it should do and that is one of the most simple things in HTML/CSS. Yeah, you can fool around with javascripts but there is NO WAY to make a clean code AND Netscape supports it.
Besides Netscape it much, much slower than IE. There are many compatibility tests out there, just check em out, if you need proof according to that.
Ahhh, forget it, it wouldnīt make sense to discuss any further, hm, okay, youīve got your 'browser' and Iīve got my one, thatīs all, nothing to say more.
bye
