Well I know, what I am looking for is hard to get. I try to find a (small, 2-5MB) free webspace with ftp and *no ads* and not a lot of down time.
digitalrice and f2s would be ok, but the server seems to be down a lot. f2s mentions that in their policies.
What are the experiences with Marmorset? freeshell.org ist ad-free, but you have to pay for ftp.
http://www.dcwebservices.com is down, the review of Eccentrix and Internettrash do not sound good.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Bert

Marmoset is hosted on a cable modem on a 486, don't use them. Try http://www.datablocks.net

You probably will have a hard time finding a reliable ad-free FWP with FTP. A lot of ad-free FWP's need the revenue from the ad banners on the web-based file manager to survive.

If you can stand no FTP internettrash is okay. I have had a site there a year and I like them.

I understand that they have to make their money anyway. At the moment I have a small site with about 60 files, which are together about 1MB. 60 files in about 15 directories to upload with a browser is no fun and therefore I need ftp.
I tried FWPs with ads too. fortunecity and personales replaced *my* picture at the right top with their ad-frame, after a few days. Both have a pop-up ad too. That is why I am looking for a FWP with no ads. It also could be a non-english FWP. Fortunecity also opens the popup-ad after every new window of my site, when clicked away, but maybe this depends on my target=_top commands, which I use very often.
Is there any free FWP with an automatic generated banner at the bottom and has no pop ups?
Thanks
Albert

Hypermart have an option to add a banner at the top of the page instead of a hypermart. They aren't bad really.

ACtually, F2S was good to me, although I had a friend having trouble with the CGI. It wasn't down much at all, and pretty fast.

Let's see what the future brings. I made a little test page there and had troubles with ftp and http and yes I know, that I've been told at subscription that they have a lot of downs. Did you check the downtime with any service? Since I check my testpages with netwhistle, I can say there is no FWP without problems within a few days.
I am tired of subscribing to further FWPs, but subscribing seems to be the only way to check, if a FWP fits my needs.
BTW kyd is down since hours. Let's see how saxen.net works. Their own homepage is very slow and mine is not be shown with nslookup till now. When you register, you see that you are connected to portland.co.uk. Is saxen.net and portland the same company? The idea of saxen.net to make money with mails and let the site free of ads, is what I like. Are there similar free FWPs?

This probably means that saxen is a portland reseller.
