View Full Version : Can we stop with the BB threads?

We get millions of threads on this forum everyday asking what BB would be the best to use. Instead of asking again, can't you just check out the other threads that ask the exact same thing? you'd be saving your time and ours.

Maybe cus it is a very important application for ones Homepage.. It can attract tons of visitors.. Primary because the BB's are updating.. many times.. some BB's get better some not.. people always want for the best.. that's is why this question is so important one. I don't really care for the threads.. I quite enjoy them.. I only hang out on this forum.. do not like so much the others..(freehost, paid host, etc..)
I think only this kind of question can be boring.. but it can be very interested, this is what keep this board alive... :)

I've always wondered why message boards are more popular than chatrooms...but I guess that's an off-topic discussion for the General Discussions board. :)
If you disallow any threads here about message board services, this entire forum would pretty much be bare.

I'm not saying block the topic altoghether. All I'm saying is that we have tons of these threads already, you can probably find the answers in those threads instead of creating a new one that asks the same thing and gets the same answers.

All, I'm saying is that the threads usually go something like this:
"Which BB is best?"
"Poll: Ikonboard vs. phpbb2"
"what board should i use for my site?"
and so on and so forth...it doesn't usually vary very much from that. I'm just saying that common sense and courtesy dictate that you should read these threads first, where I practically guarantee you get the answers you want.

These threads should be stopped but not some, like discussing about new BBs. Maybe a mod should have a thread each for every bb and make em sticky.

why not make a category of its own...

That wouldn't help either...I like Asian_DOC's idea of making a sticky. a read before posting about BB's thread.

I think that the problem isn't the fact that people open new threads about bb, but the fact that all of us always reply in the same way! I'ts also that new members avoid to partecipate in such discussions (don't know if you've noticed that). In general the problem is that there are not many new incoming infos from the old and new members! I wouldn't call it a board crisis but ....
By the way, these days the world of the bb is really in bad waters so the discussions are more needed than ever!

Uhh...Posting the same thing twice intentionally is spamming, max_payne.

Yeah...I noticed how he just happened to stop at 150 posts so he could get his avatar in...
:topic:
Anyway, back to the topic. I don't think we should stop BB threads. We won't be able to talk about stuff like Ikonboard dying if we disallowed those threads. Also, newbies will be confused and likely will not follow that rule.

You guys are missing my point...I'm not saying ban discussion of BB's...it would, to me anyway, make sense to check out one or to of these threads and see if you can get your answers. I can almost guarantee you will find what you wanted to know.

The thing is, a lot of the replies are so vague, it just leads to more questions, threads, and posts. A lot of mine have gone unanswered.
Finding a free host just to check out the board is becoming a big hassle with the incompatible versions of php, mySQL, etc. The free web space forum is packed with host seekers.
There's a rash of people wanting boards right now, myself included.
What we'd really like is clear concise answers without all the BS. :D
