I'm a straight A student. What about you guys?

ehh, I'm still in highschool
Mostly A's and B's, some C's.

A-B Student.
Mostly B+ now though. My classes are extremely difficult, so getting an B in Economics is liking getting an A in a regular social studies class.

Well, I didn't go to well.
But I never really worked hard or even tried anyway.
In my last year of high school, these are the subjects I did, and the average mark I got for them
- Business Management - A's
- English - A's
- Psychology - B's
- Media - A's
- Information Systems - C's -- Hehe, this was so boring and stupid it wasn't funny. I know a bit about computers and stuff... but the Systems Development Lifestyle blah blah blah... is the most boring thing in the world.
Of course, that's averages.
I got the occasional A in Info System, and got the occasional C in English; etc.

English IB - B+
Algebra II IB - B
Spanish - A
Computers - B+ (I was being lazy)
Economics - B
Environmental Science - A (Easy class)
Art I :D - A

Algebra is cool.
I think that was the only sort of maths that I actually enjoyed.
Not that I can remember anything at all about it now... but yeah, it was cool. :classic2:

I got barely a C (74.6%) in Geometry... I hated that course. I flunked several tests, and that brought my grade down. If I got any lower than a C, including a C- I would have to take the course again because of California requirements to get accepted into university.
Algebra is a very enjoyable class in comparsion to geometry.

I get A's and B's in most of my classes except beginning algebra. I got a 63(F) last quarter.
I'm in Middle School

I thought 63 was a D in the US?

Depends on which school. Some schools (like my old one) have 65 or below as failing.

I am in year 10 doing 3 VCE (year 11) subjects, they are VCE General Maths, Biology and Physics. I am getting A's in everything.

The grading scale my school uses:
100-95 - A
90-94 - A-
85-89 - B
80-84 - B-
75-79 - C
70-74 - C-
65-69 - D
60-64 - D-
59 or lower - F
Pretty standards with some US states.

Wow...vastly different scoring systems.
Anyway, here are mine (I'm not going into specifics; I'll just use Math, etc.):
Math: A 94
Science: A+ 98
Literature: A 94
Social Studies: A 96
Music: A+ 97
French: A+ 99
PE/Health: A (I was like the only one that got 95; everyone else got 100s)

Hey conkermaniac, those grades are high... what kind of classes are those? Standard or higher level?
conkermaniac
April 10th, 2002, 09:09
Algebra II (above grade-level for a 9th grader)
IB French
Forgot to mention...9th graders are not allowed to take IB/AP courses in any of the other subjects... :confused2
Giancarlo
April 10th, 2002, 09:16
My higher level classes are very difficult, and include IB English, AP Economics, and IB Algebra II.
I am intending to only have one higher level class next year because me taking three higher level courses this year will give me enough leverage when applying for university.
Next year, I will probably be taking the following:
International Politics (Social Studies Class)
Financial Math or Contemporary Math (Not necessary to take a difficult course, not required)
Physics (Regular)
Art II :D (I am okay painting/drawing)
English 12 IBSL (Standard Level IB, option of taking IB test) or American Literature IB
And not to mention the SAT requirements for California Residents are more than easy to get in.
I want to major in Political Science (try to get an Bachelor of Arts degree) and minor in Economics as my future goals, but those are long ways down the road.

What is the difference between Algebra II and IB Algebra II? IB is an advanced course, and if I'm taking Algebra II (a 10th grade course) in 9th, wouldn't that be the same thing?

I took Algebra II standard level in 10th grade, and took Geometry in 9th. Algebra II IB would be an extension of Algebra II Standard level at least in my school. It would be more complex than it, and requires that you take an IB exam instead.

With some of the grading systems you guys posted I could get straight As without doing anything at all.
I was a straight A student up until this year when I did nothing but study and do homework 24/7. Now I'm getting mostly Bs and Cs cause I no longer care. I actually have a life now, and would rather be having fun with friends instead of trapped inside with my nose in a book wasting the best years of my life away.
Just for reference, the grading ssystem we use:
A: 93-100
B: 85-92
C: 76-84
D: 70-75
F: 69 or below

My school may have an grading system that looks easy, but the school itself is difficult.

Algebra is a very enjoyable class in comparsion to geometry.
I also hate Geometry. I took it last semester and I switched out of it this semester along with 3 other classes, into business math.
My grades:
US History: B-
Auto Mechanics: B-
Physical Science: B-
World Literature: D+
Business Math: A
A+ Computers: B
LAST SEMESTER:
WA St. History: C
Auto Mechanics: B+
Geometry: B (hated the class and the teacher)
World Literature: C-
US History: B+
A+ Computers: B-
All of the teachers at my school have their own grading systems. I don't know of any who will fail you with a 60%. Some will give you a D- with a 55%. However this is the toughest high school in Washington State.

My Geometry teacher was sick for like four weeks of first semester that one year I took it (two years ago) and gave us a bunch of pages to do out of the books. Now that is where I did terribly in, no one was teaching me it and I messed up everything.

Well it all depends. Some schools are harder than others, and have easier grading scales.

I have no idea what A's, B's, C's are. My marks are generally in the range 80-95. I do fairly well in school, but am glad I don't have to work for it. That can be a bad thing though...I am not developing good work habits, so in University I may run into some problems...
But still, usually my marks are in the top 3 or 4 in the class, which must mean I am doing more work than lots of other people. Except for Physics AP...I hate those AP kids. It's all the nerds in one class, and they all...are...nerds. So I may be somewhat of a computer nerd (posting on a forum about freewebspace...), but I am still quite distanced from these kids. They aren't the kind of people who you can look up to for being intelligent...they are the kind of people who look down on you for being less intelligent. I am glad I am not in any AP classes now...

In the past three days I got a couple of tests back :
Navi: 103 - A+
Chumash: 99 - A+
Mythology: 98 - A
Science: 101 - A+
Math: 95 - A
Social Studies: 100 - A+
My grading (A-B-C-D-F) is like Bruce's but ith slight differances. (by only 1 or two points, but our plus-minus system is the top two and bottom two 99-100+ would be a plus, and 92-93 would be minus if 92-100+ equals an A.) My friend, in these same tests got a:
Navi: 94 - A
Chumash: 68 - F
Mythology: 61 - F
Science: 72 - D
Math - 82 - C
Social Studies : Wouldnt show me.
What a dumb#&@ Were in eight grade so I doubt he'll graduate.

I'm an A-B student but I do get an occasional C. I don't get my report card for this 9 weeks until Monday, so I'm not sure what my grades are, but here's the scale we use:
94 to 100 - A
86 to 93 - B
80 to 85 - C
74 to 79 - D
Below 74 - F
I think it's harsh :p.
I start some night classes at college here in a few weeks, what fun  .

Hey I flunked 5th and 7th grades. Well actually, my stepmother (the b*) had me held back. I made straight A's the next years. Then in 9th grade I started school 3 weeks late, and got kicked out 3 weeks after that. It wasnt my fault and I was not in the wrong, so I never went back. The coachs were pissed about it.
I got low grades, but it wasnt that I didnt know the stuff, it was too easy. It's that my parent's forced me to study, and out of spite I would leave my homework at home..LOL. I always got A's on my tests though which kept me afloat just at passing level, and I knew that, which is why the schools kept passing me.
So I ran away from home, studied and got my GED while a runaway, etc, etc, life went on and I had fun, and here I am now.....STILL having fun :D

I was a "just pass" student, bringing home marks around 50-60%. Only until my final year of high school, I decided to actually try and focus for the first time, and ended up with a 90% average..

I think most of you must just have easy schools. :p
I got mostly As and Bs, my high school GPA was about 3.2. Took a few IB classes, but mostly regular.
In college, it depends entirely on the subject. If it's math related (differential equations, physics, calculus I and II) I either eek out a low C or flunk. If it's something else, I get As or Bs.

According to my school standards, my GPA was a 4.0. Yeah, it really is an easy school, isn't it?

i'm in Anatolian High School. They taeches us English. Not a kind school in turkey. If you want it you must enter the entering test. And you must get 1000/850 points for good.
You know turkey is a beatiful country but its educational systems are not good enough. If you want to go university you must enter the test. And you must do 180/150 questions at least or you dont go an university.
WHAT A BAD SYSTEM , ISNT IT???
