Mods delete my other thread.
Okay I need a review of www.albinotreefrog.net . I took your advice from last time and used verenda font for the center row.

Well the unattractive detail of your site is the yellow and blue color scheme! Light blue/ dark blue??
How many visitors do you get daily?
Wanna link exchange!!! www.a-----house.com

Yeah alot of people say that. I personnaly like it and all my images are yellow and blue. What color will you suggest?
Sorry, I don't exchange with Porn sites.
I thought Yellow and blue were naturally complementary colors.
I don't know how to edit images very well so if anyone is willing to edit two small images for me and make them dark blue/light blue(or whatever contrast looks good) instead of blue/yellow , I'd be glad to change.

Well a-----house kind of implies it is, what is the site about? I'm always on-edge to trade links with sites that have that kind of a name.

On topic: if you keep the blue-yellow, change the red text. Red on blue has a funny effect.

Yeah, I was planning to change to red text, it looks wierd to me too

I like the yellow and blue, I think the two colors go well together, but yeah, ditch the red. Other advice, get a better logo (maybe one that's not just text) and do something to the sidebars... I don't know what exactly, but they're lacking something and don't quite fit in. The Comic Sans font, I don't know if that was such a good choice. Maybe you can leave the header's, like "Categories", "Friends/Partners", etc Comic Sans, but make the rest something simpler, like either Arial or Verdana.

A decent logo would look nice - so thats why I made you one :)

The logo rules, I'll use it. I've tried arial and verenda for the nav actually and they look like crap, I'll use my current one until I can find something better.

Comments:
-Looks nice, but the center table looks plain
-Not really much graphics
-Make the top part of the overall table curved in, just like the bottom part
Design: 800/1000
Organised: 860/1000
Graphics: 700/1000
Overall: 787/1000, 79%

- Again way too many categories, I think it is possible you can condense many of those into fewer even if it is a freebie site.
- Ugly frame surrounding the categories and links/partners menu
- Verdana should be used as standard text, not comic sans.
- Background is subpar
Design/Layout: 6.5 out of 10
Graphics/Style: 5 out of 10
Overall: 6 out of 10 (60%)

There's really only one part of the site that I found strikingly bad, and that was the nav bar. I highly dislike the Comic Sans font in there. Also, for category headings like "Categories", "Other Resources", "Vote for Us", and "Friends/Partners", avoid using bold underlined text at all costs. Use wordart; use a simple button; or whatever you want...but don't use text! Also, when I access the other pages of your site, you haven't implemented that great logo pro5ject made for you.

I'm with you, conkermaniac. The cool thing is the colors. What's the pic of the doors for, implemented into that flash anime?

you just modified a little .. otherwise it's ok
Archbob

I'll look into changing the font, for some reason, I am attracted to the comic font, but I may change to verenda sometime.
Yeah this layout is at freelayouts, it took me forever to modify and add a third table.
Giancarlo, compared to your site, yes, my does have way too many cateogories, but compared to many of my competitors, my site does not have as many.
Whats wordstart?

i havnt read all the replies but i dont like the background, doesnt go well with the yellow, and that big space where the search is makes it look worst
you might want to make the nav tables less close to the end of the tables, mabey make it centered or so, and the space between content and menu looks bad

Comic Sans, IMHO, is only good for signs and calanders.

But do you really want to follow the industry standards or make new standards?

I (like is0lized) havent read all the posts... not in the mood right now...
One suggestion,....
I like the shadow thing you got goin on in the middle table. Why dont you implement that in the other 2 tables. it would look alot better. And not as sloppy if everything looks the same.
And you should put that cool logo pro5ject made for you on the other pages of the site also. The old text thing just isnt working.
Good luck btw! Hopefully it will turn out to be a site ill WANT to go to some day. Cya

Lokannon
April 13th, 2002, 21:00
I noticed that too... looks like the thing thats dropping the shadow is coming form 2 seperate directions... :confused2 :confused2
I would take away the top left part. And put the bottom right part on the other 2 tables.
:D

Thanks for all the suggestions guys.
I'll probably change the font to verenda for the navigation in the next few weeks(adding offers right now). As for the shadow thing, I see people have different opinions about that, I'll think I'll keep it as it is for the moment.
Actually, I plan to follow industry standards, the more categories you have , the more content you have, the more ads you can put in, and the more visitors you will get. All the very successful freebie site have tons of categories. Check out
www.thefreesite.com
www.freebiesplanet.com
www.freebieland.net
Now when I build my site for world conquest ---- I might not follow industry standards.
