Look over those specs again... I think the Government (Department of Defense, NASA, NSA) probably have quite a bit of those. I can't really think of anybody who could afford that, besides a major corporation and the government.

I definately wouldn't mind having one of those Sun servers though. 288 Gigs of RAM...

Sun Systems use to be (not sure anymore) one of the best server producing companies in the world. The servers they've created in the past have outdone many of the servers today, they are one hell of a company. My friend has a AIX.. he paid around $65,000 for it abot 4 1/2 years ago. It's one hell of a machine. 10 scsi hard drives. it's an awesome machine. but produces way to much machine. It was made by IBM.

Andy, they were bsing you.
Sun creates the most expensive, largest, and best servers I have seen... I think the government might have some deals with them, and may have a great deal of mainframes (that $3 million dollar one) at the FBI Headquarters in Langley, Virginia.

Computers more expensive than that exist, just look at your nearest university.
For example, IBM's ASCI White has 8,192 CPUs, weighs 106 tons and takes up two basketball courts' worth of floor space.

I think I underestimated what the FBI headquarters at Langley has then.
