I use I /O Magic Hurricane Extreme as a sound card, and it goes out for no reason when im listening to music, watching mpeg videos, and just out of the blew..
I was wondering if anyone else has this problem with their I/O Cards using win2k, i have had this card for arround 9 months or so, and this card pisses me off... I'm going to go get a Sound Blaster Live, but before i do i want to know who has these same problems

well when i had my old vortex 2 sound card and just installed wink2k i had something similar. i would be able to play music and stuff until i opened up another program. if were listening to an mp3 in winamp and i opened up outlook express the music would abruptly stop and i wouldn't be able to hear any sound coming out of it until i rebooted.....i tried downloading the lastest drivers for win2k but they did nothing and since aureal (manufactorer [sp?]) went outta business i couldnt get much support so i just gave up and got a new card for like $40.

What type of drivers are you running? WDM or MME? This happens with some sound cards no biggy. Sometimes the easiest way to fix it is to set the thread priority higher for the driver.

You could have said "thanks, but it still is having problems"
Now you make me not want to help you but I am still gonna try
What audio player are you using, does it do it with all software? If you do not know what drivers you have go to there website and try downloading the wdm drivers if they have them for the sound card. If they don't re download and install the MME. If it still doesn't work it could be an actual problem with the hard ware. But lets hope not, the company is a good company, so I would recommend buying there products.
