Has anybody used xOasis.com?

If so what are your experiences?

Thanks

Others past expirences with Xoasis.
1. CGI doesn't work
2. Made up some fake reason to put ads on users pages
3. Support never answers
4. Don't use it.

I tried em out cause they sounded okay, right? They put pop ups on my page( I was expecting banners), and CGI wouldn't work because I couldn't find the path to perl on their site, and....well, that's all I discovered in the five minutes I was trying them. Not a good service.

Never used them, and I doubt I ever will because of all the horror stories I've heard about it

Any suggestions for someone who carries Server Side Includes and CGI with more than 5 mb of storage who allows domains, not sub-domain signups.

Thanks.

http://www.vitualave.com - 20mb, CGI, SSI, PHP, popup ads
http://www.hypermart.net - same except may allow banner on top
http://www.portland.co.uk - 15mb, CGI, SSI, PHP, no ads, slow, 100mb bandwidth
http://www.netcabins.com - 12-60mb, CGI, SSI, PHP, user placable banner ads, quick

I was looking at virtualave.com but they only offer domains that you sign up with them--don't they?

Do the ones you mentioned allow yourdomain.com if you already have a domain registered; ie I already registered my domain, I just want to switch my DNS Server information with InterNIC to a new host.

Thanks

Hypermart and Virtualave do not allow domainhosting. Try Netcabins (recommened) or Portland (not recommened).

Do you know if NetCabins allows for some kind of WebMail or POP3, or redirects, etc.?

Thanks

That's done using nameservers. And it's not violating Netcabins' TOS, so they'll probably allow it.

Uh.... no. They do allow it, I had http://www.xt7.net on HyperMart (later switched to VA because they don't require the 'www') before I could get it on NetCabins.

Coolin pretty much sums up my experience with them.

We allow our domain users to have an account with Everyone.net for their web-based email needs. POP3 should be ready in about 1 month as well.

HM and VA do allow domain hosting. In fact HM gives one subdomain on your domain and generally very helpful in support, if you don't violate their TOS. Change of MX records, CName etc done on request.Their server is very fast, reliable and no downtime (Touch wood!)

Portland (not recommened).
Why, Portland gives so many features which no FWP gives; plus they are faster now with the acquisition of new hardware. Remember NO ADS!!! (Very few of the species can claim this one :-) )
Cheers!

No PHP in VA or HM. And they give 50 Mb now.

You can sign up with any domain with VA.

Melo

But do you have to purchase your domain from VirtualAve/Hypermart and Portland or can you transfer from another provider?

You can transfer... it's not hard to do with them.

(Very few of the species can claim this one :-) )What makes them awful is the 100meg/month bandwidth limit. If a 500kb image is downloaded 200 times, no one can visit your site anymore for the duration of the month. (Portland may be a little flexible with the bandwidth, but I wouldn't press my luck.)
