Whats the different between a laptop computer and a notebook computer?

No difference as far as I know. I was recently employed "officially" as a Notebook Technician, but to me I was working on Laptops.

Well to me they are both the same, maybe someone who has followed the "birth" of different computer systems can better enlighten you.

I know Toshiba call their 'laptops' Notebooks.

If you have encyclopaedia info at hand, doesn't that explain the difference?

at one point notebooks weren't laptops. they did simple tasks (address book, email, word processing) and they had their own OS. Now notebooks run Windows or Mac and do everything a laptop can do.

It might just be me but they were originally called laptops which is what I still call them, but then APPLE came out with the notebook computer, cause they have to be different you know:rolleyes:

Well if the notebooks/laptop is running a Windows or Mac OS, than it's a laptop. If it's running it's own OS (Like a PALM), it's a notebook. Most likley you'll see the same thing, a notebook is a laptop.

I mean how do I tell a difference if they use the same OS?

Why did the world make it so difficult to differentiate?
