View Full Version : Le Pen goes on to face Chirac in French Elections

This is horrible. Not only is this guy a bigot and anti-semite, he wants to send all new immigrants back to their home countries. How the hell did he win? God help chirac win the elections.

Horrible is the correct word yes. I guess some people in France regret not going to the polls today or regret voting for some of the less popular candidates as everybody thought the two main candidates had already been picked...

Le Pen didn't win by the way and it's only exit polls so far, not actual vote counts. (but the result will be the same)

Giancarlo

I hope Chirac wins this. Though I utterly despise Jospin, Le Pen is much worse.

This is stunning... Europe is taking a shift to the right... Italy, Spain, Russia and now France.

Peo
April 22nd, 2002, 09:19
Denmark and Norway aswell. And no doubt soon Germany and the Netherlands. But not Sweden.

The stunning thing in my opinion is that the racist far right are getting so many votes in Europe.

Giancarlo
April 22nd, 2002, 09:22
I support Le Pen, Berlusconi, and Aznar... and I don't consider them racist. Le Pen repeatably denies that he is, and is just against illegal immigration but is not against the immigrants themselves. Aznar's government (Spain) kicked out over 100,000 illegals from Ecuador and Morocco who lacked proper documentation. Now why can't France do the same?

Peo
April 22nd, 2002, 09:28
You just said Le Pen is much worse than Jospin? Which he no doubt is.

Are you referring to illegal immigrants?

That is what I thought before I did a little research on him. Chirac is still good, but Le Pen is on my prefered list.

Kinda ironic how the world perceives Australia's stance on illegal immigrants.

I'm not absolutely worried about this Europe's turn to the right (and sometimes to the extreme right). I think that is a cycle that has to be concluded. Many social & economical problems and many not innovative socialistic (or left) governments created all this. I believe that Europe has the correct mechanisms to react to movement towards extreme right! In the next 3-4 years I think that will see again a good balance in Europe! Of course in the mean time some people will suffer (like immigrants), I know, but there will be for sure a strong reaction by all the moderated minds of Europe! So the governments will not be able to apply some ideas (specially like the ideas of Le Pen) even if they want to. There will be a strong reaction by the european people! I'm sure of that!

I haven't been following Australia's illegal immigrant problem lately...

Mika: That was very insightful. Le Pen may have to moderate some if he gets into office.

I heard some people voted for le pen to show that something needed to be done about crime but in the final vote they said that they wouldn't vote for le pen because of some of his views. I can't see how le pen could win the election and if he did then there would definately be protests.

Don't spat at me. Even if it is cynical. I have done more than 30 seconds of research.

Le pen isnt racist? What about his "The holocaust was just a blip of history. Forget it and move on" speech.

He retracted that. Other than that, I agree with his economic and immigration policies. They are similar to that of Berlusconi's and Aznar's. If the population shrinks in these countries, the right wing will have a major comeback in where it previously was not.

Oh, I don't think Le Pen can win this. If he does it will better for France and the world as a whole, like with Berlusconi, but Chirac is my expected guess for the next French President.

What about the Spanish Government deporting 100,000 immigrants who lacked documentation? And that makes them anti-semite?? You got your facts mixed up.

Mr Le Pen was convicted in April 1998 for assaulting Socialist candidate Annette Peulvast-Bergeal during campaigning for national elections the year before.

When it comes to politics: NO. NO, and NO! Absolutely not. I do not change my opinion on politics on the influence from others. My views may shift over time, gradually but never in a thread. Do you really think ANYONE here cares about ANYONE's beliefs in general? No... not really. We don't sit at home, and think "Well, GC is a republican - let's ponder this today, shall we? Wow, so he likes Regean? NEATO!". Nobody cares about anyone's beliefs (except maybe you).

I can come into political threads if I want. I don't bother setting a debate in them because I know the odds are 1:1 that it will just turn into a republican debate about Spain (as all political threads involving you do) and I find that boring.

I'm not ignorant... in fact, when it comes to politics and history, I'm actually quite smart (1st in History class, thankyaverymuch), I just don't find this place a useful forum to discuss anything political, because of you.

If you weren't involved, and turning every political thread into complete sh!te, I'd love to debate politics/history here.

But for now? Nah...

No. I was providing Spain as an example why illegal immigration must be cut down.

How would you know if I knew politics or not? Just because I don't bother debating (if it were even possible to actually "debate" ) with you... doesn't prove whether or not I know anything. For all you know, I could know nothing. Then again, I could know a million times more than you. You don't know, and I couldn't care less to prove it or not.

If I am such a nuisance to these forums... then why don't you rally up all the members to ask Peo to ban me?? And I will do the same for you. THEN, we will see, who is the true nuisance on the board.

Yes I know that sounds outrageous but I find myself aligned to a lot of what he says. I am certainly not racist, but his economic and immigration policies yes. And I hate the EU, I don't even know why Spain joined.

Chirac is a conservative and I got no problem with him besides the corruption scandals. I don't necessarily agree with some of his party lines but if he gets elected no problem.

I didn't write any contradicting posts... I just had a change on opinon on a particular person. No harm in that? Or is it illegal to do that in this forum?
