Does it have the break out box? or is it just the individual card? And if it does what version is it?

I don't like being a rotten egg but I got one too but for a much lower price! But haven't got it yet... ordered it online.

He may not have got ripped off, it depends on what version of it he got, If I were to just get a computer that wasn't for audio recording, just games and stuff I would get the Sb Live Audix platinum with the daughter board for midi plugs and 5.1 sound that is my favorite non-recording sound card

He says he got Soundblaster Live 5.1. Well that one is $32 on Newegg. The shipping wasn't that much. It is my APO address system that is backlogged right now.

Well part of the reason why things are cheaper over the net is because, you are shopping from everywhere in the world, not just at your local retail computer store, so you are bound to find way better prices

Stuff is cheaper online because they don't need fancy showrooms which cost tons of cash to maintain.

A lot of the places I buy stuff online are actual stores so that isn't always true

Exactly the opposite. And it isn't international shipping. It is APO AA (Armed Forces/Embassy) shipping, which is actually cheaper. It is actually done by USPS. The price is up to about $49. Making the shipping about $17.

I got a pair of altec lancing speakers for 20 US bucks. Quite good.
My sister got Creative Sound Blaster Live too. Dunno what version though, costs here around $60.
Two speakers.

The Sound Blaster Live series is getting outdated. I would have at least gotten an Audigy, but that's just me.

If we are talking about quality sound my sound card is 24bit 96khz 1/4 plugs not 1/8'' to my mixer, into a studio power amp, out into a set of $200 studio monitors.
The Sb Lives sound fine I don't know many people that have a need for anything more than 16bit 44.1khz quality. Anyway. So for quality sound the last thing you want is a Creative labs card. M-audio is probably going to be your best bet, for quality.

The Soundblaster Live 5.1 I just got today in the mail works fine... I don't need the audigy, just isn't necessary for my purposes. I just listen to music. I don't make sound files and stuff. Hardly outdated to me.
I got a Labtec LCS-2514 4.1 Solution.

Anyway I don't really give a ---- about sound, if you care about sound, why don't you get a hi-fi? :D

Klipsch speakers can go all the way up to like $400 in my opinion they are what people buy who don't know much about sound but want good quality

Klipsch speakers sound amazing and the quality is superb. You cannot find a better pc speaker system on the market.
