It seems that now I can't access the site freewebspace.net without adding the www. in front.
Just to let the admins know... Fix this problem ASAP I hope you do.

Yes I can get it also. I think trenz you might have been experiencing a few *can't reach server* problems like I have today. The longest was 5 minutes, some only a few seconds.
The first time I tried without the www it didn't work, a few seconds later it did.

Never had these problems. Anyone know what causes the problem of downloading the index file when accessing a site?

Errr... there could be a very many causes as to why you couldn't reach it or see the page. Anything specific?

The only thing I can think of, off the top of my head, which might cause your computer to attempt to download the index file instead of display it *might* be that your internet temp folder is full. When this happens, lots of odd things hapen, such as trying to save a jpg file and only getting a prompt to save the image as a bmp, etc. Also, when computers are out of memory, very odd things seem to happen, which might be the problem.
I don't know how much memory your machine has, nor if you clean out the temp folder often.
