Well!

A while ago I posted that I was having trouble with my digicam/webcam; that often when I started it up... the computer randomly restarted.

So I was going angry at the stupid thing just before, trying to plug it in... (because I ripped it out because it wasnt working), and as I was trying to find the slot to put the cord into... and whoooops! The computer restarted.

I kept fiddling... it did it again.

I stopped fiddling. And it didnt restart again.

So I had a look there, and a bit more of a play around... and I noticed that the computer restarts whenever I poke at the metal bit of the connection on the computer with the plug bit...

And that... seems incredibly weird to me.

Why would it be doing that?

Is your digicam still under warranty? Sounds like you need to get that checked out.

For some reason whenever there is a problem with USB components the computer restarts, it has happened to me a couple of times with my USB sound card, I have found if it is in use and I turn it off my computer immediatly shuts down. So just make sure your digicam isn't turned off or in use, and plug it in before you start your computer.

If you're just nudging the USB receptical on the back of your motherboard, and that causes your computer to crash, I would strongly suspect a bad solder connection or a broken trace on the mb. You would have to remove the mb and look closely at the connections around the usb receptical... Use a magnifying glass and look for hairline cracks.
