Well unless you consider a non-functional Tandy 1200 40 pound dinosaur laptop one yes... but other than that no. I would like to have a decent one for a good price (like $299... Pentium 166 or something)... so when I go to college I could take notes and stuff on it. I am a fast typist.

I only need to use a laptop for 1 month or so during the year, so what I do is buy a decent used one on Ebay in July, put my important data onto it, take it across the state in August, and when I'm done using it, I'll put it back on Ebay in September. I'll usually get almost as much as what I paid for it, and it's basically a way for me to have a laptop whenever I need one, but not actually sink a lot of money into "buying" one. It also lets me do an upgrade every year to the latest technology if I choose to. I like this better than wasting money on a laptop, using it for one month in the year, and then letting it depreciate in value. By the time I want to get a new one, my old laptop would be worthless and I'd need to make another big investment.

My brother, on the other hand, sold his desktop and he uses his laptop (which I sold him last September) for everything now.

I don't like much the laptops. They are expensive and with the same money you buy a less feautered lapton rather than a a PC. But it is good if you are moving a lot.
