Is netcabins down? I can't access their website. Ftp is also not working. My domain is also down, it's hosted by netcabins. I think it a DNS problem.

Oh, every host has its ups and downs. Even rich FWP's like Geocities, Angelfire, Tripod, Fortunecity, and Nbci.

looks to be a little more than just "ups and downs". ftp password is "incorrect", all hosted sites go to the main page, and the apache default page?

NetCabins is temporarily down
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello,

We had some hardware issues with the NetCabins server which has caused downtime since approximately 8am CST this morning. We expect these issues to be resolved within the next 24-48 hours.

This allows us to improve on and upgrade many features that weren't a feasible option before this, so we apologize for the inconvenience but assure you that the service will only get better henceforth.

Thanks,
Mike Scott

Let's hope for the best! i like netcabins :)

Hi,

We had a massive hard drive crash, and unfortunately we lost everything. To be honest, we did not have a recent backup and the latest one available was pretty much worthless. We have lost everything. I'm terribly sorry about all of this, and I don't know what I can do to make it up to all of you. We're coming back in about 2 weeks, on better hard drives with daily backups.

I can wait two weeks. Will we have to resign up? (I'm thinking yea..) this will give me time to get my site done (I should have had it dont months ago..)

It's too bad things went wrong. I hope they get back to normal pretty soon. Exactly what went wrong? By hard disk crash do you mean a physical crash?

Tom was *quite* unhappy when I talked to him via ICQ right after it happened. Think of it this way Tom, it can only get better from here on out :)

Best wishes (sounds like you lost a loved one)...

not sure if this might help
but i read somewhere that Google caches websites
n that many sites whose servers crashed went to Google for help and found their pages in Google's cache...

worth a try if you're desperate.

Well, now you guys all know the importance of backups. I, myself, always keep an exact copy of my website on my own computer's hard drive at ALL times.

I think many would agree with me that it's harder when CGI/PHP/mySQL/etc is involved. I don't make a habit of periodically downloading my forum files and data text files. Good thing I had not yet installed my xtSeven Network forums yet :D.
