Which is the best portal? At a lost of choosing between these two.

Wonder why? Because they are almost the same - crap! Just check sources and see that code is whritten "for fun" not for speed and confidense, both of them are RAM "eaters". If you are really interested in *nuke style portals I recommend xoops (at sourceforge.net) and you'll note the diference, but...

Personally I prefer ezPublish or DCP-Portal.

P.S. Sorry for spelling mistakes (I'm not an English speaker)

Well, there are a few Open Source CMS:

EzPublish (http://developer.ez.no)

Short description:
eZ publish has a multitude of modules which will make the creation of your portal easy. Link catalogues for that central job of a portal, polls and quizes for entertainment,BBS (not a phpBB style although they promissed to integrate community style BB in the next release), image, media and file catalogues for special treats to the public, ad manager, template system, caching, shopping cart and much more.
Warrning! Very powerfull, but a bit tricky to customize. For semi - professionals or professionals only! :)

DCP-Portal (http://www.dcp-portal.com)

Short description:
Modular (news, FAQ, Calendar, phpBB 141 , ad manager, tempalte driven, and much more. Next version will have shopping cart.
Can be customized in any html editor. :)

I should point one more thing. Both of these have one big downside - support. They have forums, but DCP-Portal team is always bussy and EzPublish makes money of the support (but user to user help is avialable). Note that.

So, your bet... :P

Regards
P.S. Well, you should also check HotScripts for content management apps.

This poll is biased because there are more portals than post-nuke and php-nuke.

Totally agree with you. Just wondering, what features people usually looking for in portals (CMS)?

Now I've decided to use Post-Nuke, anyone know where to get a phpbb2 module for it?

Is there a way of sharing the user database between the forum and portal?

hmm, well, i would agree that both suck on the fact that ther offer poor security with so many CSS vuln. found. and they also perform so much queries, that they tend to be server intensive. but hey, you get what you pay for.

He means that you get free app so dont expect it to be excelent and secure like you do if you pay for it. Ofcourse, some free CMS apps like ezPublish mentioned before is very advanced and excelent in design (i.e. well programmed and secure). But mostly don't expect to get good thing for free. That's what I think.
