You can't really compare a free and paid forum, but:

The phpBB ACP sucks, due to lack of features.
The vBulletin ACP rules, hundreds of features, I was suprised.
The defualt phpBB look is ugly.
The defualt vBulletin look looks fine.
vBulletin has thousands of more hacks/mods than phpBB.

My Opinion: vBulletin kicks a$$. :biggrin2:

There is no fight at all. PHPBB2 will lose to vB. You can't compare a paid and a free one. VB has many more features than phpbb2 and the support is better. The two default looks are lame.

actully that not the point..the default template of phpbb2 rules...let just say how mny good feature phpbb2 is giving out..IN FREE..and VB..they take hell of a lot..but you could always get a free copy from kazaa ;)..secondly...vB is sos damn insecure..you can actully get admin password RITE IN YOUR INBOX!

Whether it is or not I still believe that vbulletin is hard to hack at least. This person has said its easy to get the admins password but they haven't given any evidence.

Most people don't bother to customize Vb default layout much either. Actually I like phpbb2's looks better than VB's, but it lacks the features im admin that makes Vb great.

The default template of phpBB 2.x is the ugliest the world has ever seen. :biggrin2: Annoying colors, downright ugly images, childish look, and the list continues...I've seen far more uncustomized phpBB 2.x boards than uncustomized vBs. Plus, the uncustomized vBs look better anyway. I give low marks (like 2/20) for vBs without color customizations, but I automatically give negative marks to phpBB boards that have no customization.

I am using PHPBB2 and I am quiete happy with it.
But I am sure that I will change to vb because I miss many features inPHPbb2.

vB is great, the only thing is Jelsoft is too well, selfish really. It would really help if they offer discounts to charities at least.

They'd also get more piracy reports if they actually reward people for reporting warez boards.

I can't understand how anybody can hate XP's look and love phpBB 2.x. It doesn't make one ounce of sense because the two schemes look THE SAME.
