Wrong forum...and no, this isn't going to be made a sticky.
The only free domain is really http://www.dot.tk/, but it's only a redirection, and it's REALLY unreliable and slow.
If you want a domain you can actually own and modify, you may want to try getting a .com.ru, or a uni.cc domain (http://www.uni.cc).

From their site:
Question:
How much time it takes to activate my domain name?
Answer:
Whenever your earned points become 100, then your Domain name will be activated within a week depending on the traffic.
also...
Question:
What is ------------------?
Answer:
------------------ Powered by Your-webhost.com, is dedicated to provide opportunity to it's users to get a free domain name and free webhosting. User will earn points by "telling friends" and "Registering with Advertiser". When the earned points will become 100 then we will provide him our free services.
All this for a free domain (for a year). From past places that tried this, 'telling your friends' isn't enough to buy domains and neither is 'registering with an advertiser'. Buying $100-$200 of something would be, but these things never work...
I hope some of you get a domain, however with domains costing around $9/yr. (that's $0.75/mo. and less than $0.03/day), you're better off saving your pennies and skipping the bullfrog.
