Maybe admins/mods can restrict the use of "hey, search hotscripts!" or "try hotscripts.com". It doesn't make sense. PPl want results.

Well it is a well known fact that the majority are lazy and don't try to find something themselves before posting. That means if they want results WE have to do a search for them, if we don't already have an answer up our sleeves.

I don't know how many times I got a search result within seconds by using google, while trying to help someone out.

If I have a problem myself, I will always search for an answer first, rather than immediately post here for help.

People forget that no one here gets piad to help you out. Giving a site to search out is a very valid way to get the results. Just need a little patience.

Well, all I'm saying is sometimes sending someone to a site which is an excellent reference is the best help you can get.

no one has to help you out, they just do out of good will. If you don't like the answers you're given, you shouldn't make a big deal about it unless you always give the greatest answers

Maybe admins/mods can restrict the use of "hey, search hotscripts!" or "try hotscripts.com". I said maybe!!!!!!! And I just said no answering to redirect the person to another script site.

And I'm saying that's probably the best answer to give people. Resources are a lot better than a users quick little blurb.

That's a sign of laziness. Most likely ppl have already tried script sites.I would have to disagree with that. I'd be more apt to believe most people haven't tried squat prior to asking, nor have they looked to see if their question had been answered in the past. They just pop in and, without delay, click "new thread" and state their query. I also think it must be a game of some sort where you try to use as few words as possible in your question, give as vague of a description as you can muster, and use a writing style that would take a team of cryptologist several decades to decipher. Bonus points for obscure acronyms and references to long defunct services.

Maybe it is a sign of laziness to simply post a URL to a resource site, but if the frequent poster here is lazy, then the infrequent passer-by must be filled to overflowing with laze.

Contrary to popular belief, people aren't born with the knowledge that sites like hotscripts and cgi-resources exist. I've seen many people thank others for showing them those sites. Sometimes it is better to empower people with the tools to find information themselves, than to hand them everything on a silver platter.

I agree with The Red Guy. OK, some ask because they are lazy but so do most of us.

"Do you know a good xxx script" just could mean that the person asking want to know which scripts others have used and found to work well.

If you get tired of that type of question don't answer them rather than say "Try Google" which is the same as saying "Go away you stupid fool".

OK, I'll say it again...

Think about it, if they've searched sites, they wouldn't be asking!!!Wait, you just agreed with me. They're asking because they have done no search of their own, rather they're being lazy and trying to pass it off onto someone else, so offering a link to a search engine/directory is a valid response.

Then why did you tell someone to look at the sticky when in three seconds you could have got the URL for the GBB? :p
