View Full Version : Wanted: Free Domain Host With. . .

Hello,

I need a FREE domain host [hey I'm on an extremely tight budget and in Australia so American sites double their money for me e.g. hosting $US5.50 a month = $AU11].

S31net.com where my domain is currently is hosted is kicking my domain off [along with many others] to free up space.
I've not been given much warning and I can't afford to have my PAID domain name down for long as people DO visit it alot.

I need:

No set up fees (I'm about to go broke on bills! Even though I do work in retail)
CGI/Perl
E-mail (an option but not really needed)
Free Domain hosting (of course---ads are ok by me since I'm asking for free domain hosting)
Subdomain hosting off domain name e.g. someone.mydomain.org
Any amount of space (due to hosting subdomains)
FTP
Lets sites have high traffic (sorry I don't get 500 hits per day but a subdomain of mine is too high for portland (I tried that already) so that's out of the question).

Can anyone give me some advice?

Thanx
Shedevil

Do you really expect a free host to offer this? :confused2

CGI/Perl

The only hosts offering that that have at least an ounce of reliability are Netfirms, Prohosting, Spaceports, and 4Gigs, and none of those offer domain hosting. :(

Sorry.

I have found one answer!!!

Why not try www.ultrabitt.com
This supports domains but I do not know about subdomains...

Find a domain manager that does email and subdomains linking to a free site with CGI. MyDomains and NameZero Plus comes in mind, but there's probably much better ones.

Sorry.
Netfirms does offer domain hosting, you just have to transfer it.

there was a free host that allowed domain hosting with subdomains with all the above, i had my site hosted there and they stopped their free hosting (it was a pay host)

shame tho....

What is your site about, and how much space/bandwidth do you need?

domain name & subdomain:

http://www.freewebsites.com/

i would NOT recommend them, though. i had an account with them for something like a day. i didn't like my experience with them....

(hm, on further inspection, i suspect that the front page had dodgy wording, and they don't actually honestly support subdomain.yourdomain.com deals.... but it's a for example anyways and i wouldn't recommend them)
