I'm a cheap bastard, so all the games I've ever had were warez. I had Quake 3, and I got a CD Key from some other forum where a person posted theirs. But I guess ID eventually disabled that key or something, so I deleted Quake. Then I had Half Life cuz I wanted to see what is so good about counter strike, but I had problems with the CD key on this game too. But the one game I still have is Tribes. It took me about an hour to find this game, but I did find it eventually. It's a pretty old game, but it's still fun.

I find Blizzard games to be the most popular games on both the internet and for the computer. Viva la Starcraft!

Cancuckkev, the CD key you got was most likely already used by somebody else for online gaming. Only one computer can connect at a time using the same CD key. You could've searched for a crack or sumthin' at http://www.email_me_for_the_addy_'cause_I_don't_think_I'm_allowed_t o_post_it_here.com/

Woah LeX, I think URL's can only consist of 64 characters max. That was probably more than 64...

Yeah, thanks but no thanks. I heard ID is recording IP's that try to use invalid CD-Key's too many times. Probably just some BS but I'm tired of trying CD Key generators one after another...none work. Their anti-piracy protecton worked, so I guess I can respect that. It's the only software I've ever downloaded that couldn't be cracked...

And even if you did you'd only be stealing off someone who bought the product! :(

LeX

Yup. They say that every time you try to connect to Battle.net with the wrong code, they log a lot of info about your pooter and ----.

And yeah, it's kinda like stealing off somebody who paid money for the game... but then again, you won't always get a working reg code that's really there on the CDs or manual or whatever with a crack.

I thought it was 67... I recall somebody posted about somebody registering the 67 'w' address. Dunno, could be wrong... bad memory :p

It's 70 characters. Besides I don't think you're allowed to use apostrophes in URLs.

LeX

No, you aren't. Only dashes are allowed.

Nick

Can you use underscores? I've never seen a url with an underscore before...

Anybody play any console games online? I don't know why, but I've never really gotten into computer games (though I may buy half-life just to play all my friends at counterstrike or whatever it is they always talk about heh)

Anyway, I love playing dreamcast's NFL2k1 online. Lots of quitters and cheaters, but I guess that's the same for any online game.

Do Dreamcast games lag like other games often do when played over a 56k?

Koolguy
February 17th, 2001, 22:29
Not as much as PC ones.

PC Games probably lag more because everyone is on a different ISP. Dreamcast only works with one ISP from what I've heard. I may (and probably am) be wrong though.

Well you're partially right ;). Technically dreamcast online gaming works with all ISP's, but the only one that you seem to be able to play virtually lag-free on is SegaNet (Sega's ISP). Fortunately for people who can't afford the 21.95$/month price tag, there's a glitch in games with the "free 50 hours of seganet promotion". SegaNet's servers don't keep track of how many hours you've played. So anytime I'm logged on, it says "You have approximately 50 hours left". I don't know if SegaNet is just really stupid or they don't care (I think it's the latter), but I'd say about half of SegaNet users get their access this way. LOL

However, I've heard it's absolutely impossible to play Quake III online unless you get the broadband adaptor (which lets you connect using a cable/dsl modem). The drawback is that not all games support the broadband adaptor at this time, I believe NFL2K1 included.

But for the most part NFL2k1 runs smoothly on my 56K

With all those graphics and triggers and the fast paced action, I would be surprised if Quake 3 worked on 56k.
