Suse is absolutely great! But for a server I would go with RedHat! Specially because everyone does, so many issues come out and get resolved in minimum time! For a server check also FreeBSD (not linux but great unix type environment)
I've used RedHat before as a desktop, and it was great.
Like Mika said it's also good for use as a server, the same goes for Debian Linux, FreeBSD, and a few more. you can download 'em at http://www.linuxiso.org (be sure to have a fast connection, the downloads are big)
[note]
Im not spamming, just suggesting a place to download Distro's

Suse 8.0 is just great. If you can get your hands on it go for it. It has KDE 3.0 in it and that is a hell lot of an improvement.
