I am putting up a fan website (myJunoon.com) for a rock band. I have some very rare content such as interviews etc. I want to put this stuff on the website as streaming audio/video preferrably in Windows Media. I only want people to listen/watch it but not remote-load, download, save or copy it.

I know how to make WMV and WMA files using the WM Encoder. Is there any specific way to create those ASF files which point to the real WMV/WMAs. I am actually confused about all this. Like when Y! Launch puts their videos together I want something similar to that. User clicks on a link and a small console pops up where the video/audio is played but is not available to save.

The reason is being that I have put lots of effort in recording this stuff and don't want lamers taking credit for it. Thanks. Looking forward for your help.

ASF Recorder allows people to easily record Windows Media streaming files. I'm not aware of anything that can record Real files from a server running RealServer using RTSP but that's not to say such a product doesn't exist.

I suggest you allow people to download the material freely but make sure it mentions the sites main address. That way if it is distributed you get free promotion from it. Also, if someone wants to watch the same material a few times it's better to have them download it once and load it from their hard drives then use the bandwidth again and again. Studies have shown Napster actually increased CD sales so I would imagine the more distribution the better for the sites content. Just my opinion.
