I'm in a moral dilema. My mum wants me to go to a really good school, Melbourne High School. Now she said that she will put AUD$10000 in my bank account and AUS$30/week allowance if I get in. Now the money is really enticing and tempting, but I'd rather have some good friends I already have.. Soo.. what do I do?

and i might make new friends.. because this new school starts @ year 9.. only year 9 - 12.. and i'll be going into year 9

Om this particular situation, I am with andy, but on the friends vs money thing, I pick friends anytime. I would rather have a life than a living.

Money is great and all, but I'd take the friends. If you want money - get a job!

That's a good school? I thought Melbourne Grammar was the good school. :p
I would keep the friends.
Try the other school for a year. If you don't like it, go back. That's what I did and it worked out great.

well.. either way.. i really can't turn back.. but i really llike the subject choice at this school.. i want to take music for semester one [film editing and sound effects] and visual arts and desgin [computer stuff.. flash, photoshop and illustrator] it all seems too good.. i think i'll just do my best on the entrance test.. and i don't think i have a choice anyway

legally i can't have a job until i am 14 years and 10 months old.. i am only 13.. and melbourne high isn't a crap school.. its a state school.. but its better than the one i go to now, mmelbourne high is supposed to be one of THE best schools... and in price.. its a lot cheaper... my curret school is $14000/year.. melb high is a state school so it is paid in taxes.. but it about $1400/year for stuff like camp..

I suggest you take the money. Friends can always be made but once money is gone, it's very hard to get it back again.

you're lucky...we have to wait till we're 16 to legally be employed (US)...hey, it's embarrassing asking (begging) your parents for money.....

Not true, just get a restricted workers permit. I've been working since I was 14 and 10 months old.

Since I go to public school, they did the paper work and gave it to me in the office. Ask your principle or vice priciple at your school. They probally have some info for you.

I'd thought this was one of those "if you had a choice between the two" so I chose friends. But looking at your situation now, I'd say go to the new school. You'll make new friends at your new school. I moved Junior year and I've made tons of new friends.
