Hey all. I have had a website under the name Ultra PC Gamers, for about 2 years or so. I have had it hosted at spaceports.com for almost 1 1/2 now, and was happy till they decided to crap down on the rules. But anywho, now im at freeservers.com and i have a bit of a problem. You see, my site was a demo/freeware gaming download/review page. I had about 400 MB or so of demos and other software on my old server that i was offering visitors. Now that im with freeservers I do not have a place to host my downloads, so now someone suggesed I just go to a top notch download site like "www.download.com" or something like that and use the download links on them on mine. I dont know what to do, in one case, I dont have a place to host my files, on the other, I dont want to be a leech and "steel" other peoples links to slow them down. Soooo, what's all of your guys opinions? Sorry for the long post, i had to ask with details. Thanks.

Why don't you just try hosting with Nbci then?

Again, for many reasons I do NOT use Spaceports or NBCI type sites. Again, if you visited my site, you'd notice it's not a personal website. I will soon be selling PC Games for companies such as Accolade or "Atari" type industries. Anywho, I really need to get my site off the ground again, the hits have slowed down from 400 an hour to 12 an hour. Anywho, NBCI would boot my site off as soon as they noticed my site has not much HTML , but mainly exe/zips.

I could probably help you out a little bit but would require 100% of your ad space

Man you people are greedy. He's kind enough to offer you something and instead of you emailing him, you want him to contact you? It might just be me, but I think the least you could do is contact him.

He's gonna put advertisements on your page to pay for what he's giving you. With 100%, that means he has full control over all the ads on your site and you don't.

what? If i email him what am i gonna say??? He'll just have to email me back, whats the point? Why not him just email me with the info i need. Its not being "greedy" open your eyes man. anywho, I would accept if the "banner" could be at the bottom and no popups being made... and I only want to host the downloads, so it would require a link like "Downloads Provided by... whatever" and the banner... i dono.

Greed, the American way :(.
The guy wants to help you. Don't set guidelines on the ad space cause this offer might be the only choice for you.

Okay, what's wrong with hosting on nbci? They give you lots of space, you want lots of space. Is it cause you don't like the ad frame? They go with crosswinds. Don't like pop ups, go with some other one. You aren't going to find 400 MB of space free/ad-free. You could pay some hosts about $10 a month and they give you 500 MB. But you want it for free, right? Then email some site that has these downloads, and ask if you can link to the dwonload or page on their site that links to the download.

Since he's using the site as essentially a download universe, Crosswinds would be too slow for him. Wait it's faster now, but it also has popups, which he doesn't want.

You guys a frigin crude. I mean you take words a twist them into your own little puppets. I mean comeon, did I say, ad-free?? I just asked to have the banner at the bottom, otherwise it would ruin my layout. And wtf do you guys have to do with it anywho?? I mean come on, he asked me if i needed a little help, and I said yes, you guys have then taken my QUESTION, and REQUEST to a demand. He hasnt contacted me anywho, so i guess he thinks no.

If you want things for free, you're gonna have to pay the price. If it ruins your layout, to bad.

This is a PUBLIC forum. If you didn't want to talk in a public place, email the guy.

Hold up one minute. Since when is "I would accept..." a question or request? That is a flat out statement, which basically sounds like you're only going to do it your way or it's not going to work.
I don't know why haze really didn't let you use the space, but if it was me and you wanted to act like it was 'your way or the highway' there's not a chance in hell I'd help you.
You might be thinking it, and it's true: I'm the guy who will refuse to give in on an argument even if the facts are stacked against me. Well, I'm the son of a lawyer so what did you expect?

No wonder...
Ryan, did you try nbci yet? They claim to offer unlimited space, and all they've got as advertisement is this huge adframe at the top of your page, and in a way, it doesn't really screw up your page.

What hell was that? Dude, try READING the posts first... Mr son of a lawyer.
Someone DID say ad-free, scroll up a bit and READ all the posts.
I was not implying "my way, or the highway". I was requesting, since you did not give an example of where the ads were to be posted. You know what? Screw it, I dont care, keep your space, I found someone else with a little knowledge and logic on this subject of "hosting" one section of a webpage.
