Odd how your country is able to hold on to this piece of history for so long and it still has so much signifigance with you.

Indeed! A true hero and wonderful man :classic2: He will be given a State funeral (If his family want it)
He still made it to the last Anzac Day Parade (April 25) and had a beer with his mates and even at 103 was able to hold a decent conversation with interviewers.
Even though the last ANZAC has now gone, they say we we still have the annual Anzac Day holiday in remembrance of these old diggers :)

People that don't go to war that often remember their heroes longer. Simple.

I remember when his dog died...that was said too...and his sense of style..no, wait.
Anyways, good on the ANZAC's! It is important we always remember the heroes who fought for us during the war.

What he wrote/said doesnt necessary have to be about the ANZAC.

History is meant to be forgotten. But, after nearly 90 years its still current and emotional. Just puzzles me how that is so.

History is taught so you learn from the mistakes of the past.
Alec Campbell has only been history for a couple of days. RIP old digger.
