Hello,
I am haveing a problem with Netscape, it will download the file that I want it to. It will just open up the file and then start to play in winamp. but the thing is that I am downloading .exe files. They will open in winamp and I will hear a loud noise untill I turn off winamp.

I want to know how I can fix this.
thanks

Well, I didn't really understand your post, but here's what you can do. Right click on the link (if possible) and choose "Save Link As...", save the file and then play it with Winamp after it's finished downloading.

no
I don't want it to play in winamp.
I am downloading .exe files and they will open up in winamp.
they will not save to my hard drive.

If you use a download manager like Go!Zilla, you can download the file without it opening in Winamp (I think.) Give it a try!

Okay, then just do what I told you to do. Right click on the link and choose "Save Link As...", choose the file destination and save it.

Or you could also try using Opera or Internet Explorer to download if it doesn't work.

Internet Explorer is wierd like that. Try reformatting your hard drive and starting from scratch, it worked for me (however, I don't care about my data, you may.)

What version of IE are you using? I'm not saying I can help you here ( Micro----'s softwares likes performing illegal actions... but where/what is the law? ) but it would be better if you told us what version you're using.

here is what happend, we upgraded to 5.5, then the error started to come up, so I uninstalled 5.5 and then we had 5.0 for some time, with no problems, then the same error started to come up, so I upgraded to 5.5 agian, but the error is still there, I will go and unstall it agian, might have some luck for a little while with it ;)

Also to Coolin, I just reformated my hard drive before this error came up.

There have been many problems with Internet Explorer 5.5, so your IE 5.0 may have suffered irreversable damage from the time IE 5.5 was installed.

I had a problemlike that with IE 5.5, so I put 5.0 back on. Then I forgot when I did it, but I now have 5.5 again, and no(not every single time, like before) errors pop up like before. What I don't get is how a MS program performs an illegal operation when Micro$oft wrote the law?

That's the funny part of it all. They wrote the law, but they break 'em all the time. You'd think they'd at least revise it to suit their needs....
