i think it would help alot of 56kers... i know that for sure, i have cable but im going back to 56k for a few months...

what it does is its a hack at vb.org and it adds a box below all thepost with no smilies or quick BB code.. so its just a box and a submit / reset button

that was you can reply without having to click the 'post reply' button

and only takes less then a second more with 56k and no time at all with broadband

It's a good idea, and I support it, but I know that when I was on 56k, the forums still were pretty fast for me.

I don't see where it speeds anything up for 56k which I am on and you have to memorise the smileys :o

you can make a box with smilies beside the quick reply.

No, that would just add the time it takes to load the reply page onto each thread page.

I don't agree with it because it could actually slow down loading time for 56k users when the thread is loading.

They look sort of out of place... but I'm all for one.

I vote for No!!!!!! It really doesn't speed up anything at all. Just some lousy hack and it has to be reinstalled after every update!

i think it is a great idea.

its only a template hack and templates dont get modified when updated

and it does speed something up, instead of pressing reply and waiting for the page to load, you can go to bottom, type in what you want and press submit

jeeze

jeeze  Forgoodness sake, how much time is needed to load the reply/new thread page?

I think the page showing "Your message has just been posted" (or whatever it says) should be removed. It's an unnecessary waste of transfer, no matter how small.

right. its useless and makes you wait.

Actually, having "quick reply" instead of having an entire reply page is actually better. Here's why...

QUICK REPLY STRATEGY
Topic/Replies + Simplified Reply Box

DEFAULT STRATEGY
Topic/Replies + Full Reply Box + Simplified Topic/Replies

Now tell me which one takes longer?

trenzterra

its actually a little setback for those who do not want to reply, but i think its more of an advantage as it won't take that long to load something without smilies and stuff.

good point conk, i forget to mention it is not only fast loading, but fast replys :)

Well, the board should just automatically take you back to the page where you made your post.

I'll take a look at the quick reply box solution, but I don't think we will add it.

Yes, but for us, it is not necessary. I wish there was a hack to remove that thing. :)

its just a template hack

I have told you many times this forum is not centered on you and you cannot order people around.
