But they are so expensive, and it's not fair!

Why are they so expensive?

Even second hand ones... that are like... Pentium 400... go for over AU$1,000... even get close to $2000 depending on what else they have...

I really need one... but they're so much! :crysad:

What do you need?

Dell makes a bare bones nothing but a hard drive and like 10" screen for like $999

Is that 999 US? Sounds like lots?

Personally... I don't need lots... although I guess it is when it comes to laptops.

I wouldn't mind something like my current normal PC, which is a pentium 550.

I want at least 400mhz, and 64 or 128 mb of ram is acceptable... but 256 would be better.

The most important factor to me is screen... 10 inch is too small... I'd prefer 15 inch, but could live with 14.

Everything else is unimportant.

Wow GC you just reccomended something besides AMD(sorry had to say it)

Anyway, Ummm, look at the tigerdirect.com laptops it's in USD but they ship internationally. I am also considering getting a laptop but first I need a drum set.

Just think what comes in a huge case around 16'' high 18" long and 6" wide not to mention monitor space and cables, even speakers can come in a 1" thick and a 15" accross, with just as much power. I think that is pretty amazing.

That tigerdirect seems to have some good ones... thanks, and thanks GC... but those ones are a bit more than I am willing to spend right now, I think.

I might get one from Tigerdirect... but I have also come accross another one... how does it sound?

P-600
14.1 screen
11.5 gb harddisk
256 ram
dvd/cd
56k modem
10/100 network card
xp

for au$1200 (us: $671 )

AMD Mobile is better than what Intel puts in its laptops, but I can't find any of those on the places I buy from.

That's cause AMD isn't making them. Look at pricewatch there isn't a single one. So off of that I'd say I like the Pentiums better since the the AMD don't exist right now

Did you search for those? I did not find them my mistake.

You would have to be out of your mind to pick a 1ghz mobile athlon over a 2.4ghz pentium 4

Out of my mind? What if I don't want to support stupid Intel?

guitarnerd

Well I was just saying why would anyone pick a 1ghz cpu over a 2.4ghz cpu. I don't think you or however many other people are like you would make that big of a differnece. But umm I do not want this to become another of are argument threads so I will just end my statement with I myself would choose a 2.4ghz Intel processor because it is faster and upgradable. Toefur go for whatever you can find in your budget, and look on pricewatch.com your best bet for your budget would probably be a gigapro cyrix. Maybe a refurbished, see what you can find

Do I want to support Intel? No. And I don't care if they have a 2.4Ghz chip, because having more numbers doesn't prove anything.

I would take them if they were giving them away for free.
