View Full Version : Tell-a-friend that's remotely hosted?

I have a tell-a-friend script that doesn't open the users client...almost. The prompt shows up.

But what I'm looking for is a script that, through a remote host or whatever, doesn't open the client and just sends it via another host without any prompt.

Nothing pops ups, prompts, or anything...It just sends thru another email host.

I think this may be remotely hosted which may includes a small add in the email which is ok with me.

I haven't seen/found anything like this.

Is there some sort of script or service that would allow me to do this with an existing service?

Thanks :D

Not sure I am understanding you, but do you mean like www.mailbits.com or www.superTAF.com ?

Sign me up, baby? Good Lord...Not a chance.

I think I've found what I'm looking for. It's just a remotely hosted cgi/php script.

Thanks :classic2:

Can you let me in on the secret? I am on a paid one and it expires this month, I would prefer something different. :classic2:

They have a little section called "remotely hosted". There are a couple there. And there's always Bravenet.

Try the script avaliable at ApplyTools (http://www.applytools.com)

Only the lite version is downloadable...its a cgi script ( back end : flatfiles )...with admin features, such as, you can get to know, who are the recievers and senders.

It works for me...It should work for you also...!

Jan : I subscribe to ur view that most of these free scripts avaliable don't have proper installation instructions...

<Rant>
Infact some of the script authors/owners proudly say that they don't have time to publish them....I guess, it hardly takes any time to do that...Sorry this is not to point fingers at the owners..just that, we the users wish, we could get clear installation/usability instructions !
</Rant>

Cheers

I actually had one script owner on ICQ giving instructions, when we reached a dead end I was left to my own devices. Another one, we exchanged about 30 PMs trying to find a solution. I guess I will never understand this CGI stuff :o

I will try the link you gave me, but that back end and flat files stuff scares me a bit :nervous:

Hii again,

but that back end and flat files stuff scares me a bit

Jan: could you pls explain this for me ??

Okay, if that is the case, you could try the one with MySql backend ; here is the link Tell-A-Friend (http://www.boxxnet.com)

Cheers
