Hi,
It's been a while since I've been in these parts, but I just got something in the mail that I need some assistance with...
It is an invoice for 3 pieces of SPAM that this company received. They are trying to charge me $100/ea.! They're expecting me to pay them $300 for spam sent by a user of my free email, that I offer through everyone.net.
I've taken other reports of spam seriously & have deleted the accounts in question. I've also received reports of spam from a non-existant account. I know this information is easily falsified, and if this "research specialist" company did any research, they'd know that it was somebody using my free email service.

Here's what they did provide:
CS Research Specialists
143 4th SW NE
Huron, SD 57350

Qty: 3

Description:
Receipt of unsolicited/unsubscribed SPAM email. Your or your website/domain have been identified as the originator of the SPAM by research through the available web resources.

Rate: 100.00
Amount: 300.00T
Sales Tax (0.0%): $0.00
Total: $300.00
Balance Due: $300.00

At the bottom, there is a line that reads, "This invoice is due upon reciept. A Fee of 10% of the balance as interest will be..." & the rest is cut off at the bottom.

I guess my question isn't so much about the legality of the letter, but what to do with it. I was thinking about sending them my own invoice for a "invoice processing fee of $350" and see what they do. I would contact them by phone, email or through their web site, but they did not provide any of that information on their very amateur looking invoice.

I've searched all over & can't find any information, or a web site, for this company....I would also appreciate any information anyone can provide about them...

Thanks everyone! :)

Celicaphile, I don't know if you are a member of fineclicks or not, but Chet had a similar problem a few months ago.

Jan,

"now I have to worry about Judge Judy!!!???? Who is she by the way???"

It's the biggest piece of s*** i've ever seen on TV. She is a judge who "claims" to solve problems (i think she creates more)
