THERE IS NO BEST EDITOR

Sorry, but there it is. What's best for you depends on how you work. There are bad editors though. FrontPage is one of them.

Who?
May 25th, 2002, 00:11
notepad is the best

meow
May 25th, 2002, 00:14
Really? Please elaborate. In what way is Notepad better than other text editors? :)

I wish someone would let me know the secret. It's always the same. A lot of people say "Notepad is the best" but no one tells me why. :cry2:

I'm also amazed by the fact that so many Notetab users take the trouble to indent their code by hand and cunningly add Meta taggs like Generator=F*ckPage Express.

Any text editor (ie. Notepad) or EVRSOFT 1st Page 2000 (http://www.evrsoft.com) are my favourite editors.
1st Page is absolutely awesome as I have been using it for about two years now.
I've never, ever had it crash on me and my crappy system.
It has different user levels, colour coding of code, spell checking, preview window, and pre-installed scripts.Among the very many fetures it has.
Oh and its free...I recommend this to anyone in need of an HTML editor for Windows.

i never could get used to wysiwyg editors, but if i would use one it would be dreamweaver... i like arachnophilia though, mostly because of the keyboard macros, but if i just need to change some little thing iŽll open up notepad...

Frontpage isn't that bad,the html it writes sux but the result of my page is fine. (I mean, nobody is interested in what editor you made your site with:) )
But I prefer Dreamweaver (ultradev or MX)
But frontpage is good for simple sites...

hey there everyone, for me its coffee cup html editor!

its great for you handcoders and its got some great features for the newbies alike, it makes making sites fun again, with its ease of use, built in page preview with is a nice touch and colourful design i think coffee cup is the best html editor out there!

dreamweaver is ok, i personally dont like wysiwyg editors, frontpage is not for me im afraid, and notepad...well im not a hand coder! (just yet anyways)

Here's a helpful site for pricing products:
http://www.pricegrabber.com/search_gen_top.php/topcat_search=1/form_keyword=Dreamweaver/

Also check PriceWatch.com as I'm sure they will have good deals on it as well.

spec you know your stuff, OmniPad is one of the best for multi-language (did I spell that right ?) coding/editing.

I myself use both OmniPad & Notetab, which together covers everything.

Notetab (not notepad you moron!)

I have Golive, DW, and FP on my computer (Magically all registered not cracked) and I use wordpad more than all of them 1st page is cool but I never got hooked on it. but meow is right there is no best I use all of them for different things.
But CSS is the best and you have to code that yourself. I have been using CSS I should probably get into XML though

Yeah, would it even make a difference without that there? Wow, looks like FP to me. Anyway, keep working.

meow
May 29th, 2002, 23:30
That's a perfectly valid way of denoting the charset you use guitarnerd. There isn't a single proprietary tag or anything else that points to FP or any other editor for that matter. :biggrin2:

I use frontpage 2002/xp. I often find myself editing the html by hand with it. I find it easier to see what I'm doing instead of looking at a bunch of lines. The only bad thing is that frontpage oftens screws up the html here and there, thats when a html source fixeruperuperer comes in handy.

Well if you do it yourself and you say you like to see what your doing why not just use your browser. That's what I do.

well you have to admit coolpage is good for working out rough layout stuff.

But other than that, coolpage can go to the scrapheap :D

Why is Frontpage so badly rated? I find it simple and easy to use!

Makes unorganized HTML, you can't really make a professional good looking site in it, it is expensive, and isn't the best html editor. and it lacks in features. The only way to use the full potential of the web is in notepad

As master_tee made his decision on page two of this thread, no need to drag it on I think. The Red Guy, if you search for Front Page in this forum, you will see quite a few reasons why it isn't so popular.
