I'm currently using IE 5.5 and when I go to phpbb.com with IE 5.5, I get some funny numbers on top like 1048 1049 etc.
It does not appear when using netscape.
Is it a problem with my browser? If so how do I fix it without using Netscape and without upgrading to IE6?

Weird, appears that IE isn't handling PHP properly or something.
Have you scanned for viruses? Perhaps something harmed your copy of IE, which could be casuing such a problem.
I myself am runnin IE 6 and am not having such a problem.

In one browser I see 1049 where you do. I don't see your other number but see 1002 between the styles and mods buttons.

I have fixed the problem.
Apparently, it is a phpBB problem. You have to enable HTTP 1.1 with proxy connections.
