I was wondering how websites like geocities, angelfire, tripod, and much more make there websites. So my question is, how do they make it so you can build a website? Like how you sign up and they have a web page builder, how do they get/make one and how can i do this? Please reply :) thanks!

Do you have you're own server?

No offense intended, butt it seems you lack any sort of knowledge on this subject, so starting your own fwp is not something I would advise.

Gee, you sound totally newbie.

My advice is: get more experience, see how other FWPs do it, then you can start considering starting a FWPs in about a few years. Not meaning to be rude, but I personally don't believe you can succeed with little knowledge and experience, and you will need years of those to run a FWP.

I really dont know how to explain this part with out confusing myself, and i wont for fear of making a mistake and being shot down ;)

as for "getting experience" maybe someone could suggest somewhere for koocoon to go to gain some knowledge on the subject. maybe it would do all us knowitalls good too.

If you make an FWP for your own sake dont make it bannerless and unlimited. Youll get shot down

You can't get experience from anywhere... you get it from everywhere, and you gain knowledge and experience with time.

You are totally right but you do have to start somewhere.

BTW- That's almost sig material

Well I believe geo, tripod, used to use a script call "webhome" cause I have that. And that is very simliar to the script that those fws company uses to use in 1998, Cause webhome have online editor, free ubb, guessbook, etc.
And it can control bandwidth and stuff. But the bad site of webhome, that verson is over 1 year old. and they not selling them anymore.

As for where to start, I'd cobrand

Johnny, you better fix your sig, the bold tag is messed.
Anyway, the big companies actually use a self-made script. Not webhome, webhome is actually just a script made like the ones Tripod, Angelfire, Geocities etc.. use. The big companies don't use webhome though, remember that ;)

Lies! Lies! All Lies!

The truth, To provide webspace you simply go into a state of a complete 'internet' trance and let your bank-accounts cash flow dissapear... then you make the hours in a day disappear... then your life dissapears...

(Yes, Supermoo was joking (That's j/k-ing for you acronym people ;)))

Amazing!... how did you do that? ;)

I agree with Supermoo. If you're ready to lose cash, then your FWP is halfway there....

Joking?? I see no joke in there...only the truth.

Heres what you do....you go get an account at one of those hosts that offer unlimited bandwidth and space for $29.95 per month. Put Webhome on it, point a domain to your account, and stick banners on all member pages. When you make enough money from those banners, you upgrade to your own server that has the new unlimited hard drives as well as getting one of those unlimited bandwidth pipes of your own from UUNET. And make sure you are using a quad III gigahertz cpu and 40 gigabit ECC RAM for power, then get ya some thrustline backup RAM. (KY sold seperately) And then your all set. Now all you have to do is pour that KY on your chair and sit around waiting for your first month's bill from UUNET.

Now, Supermoo, THATS a joke. But there is a serious side. Giving free webspace aint all it's cracked up to be. You dont get rich or famous, and it can ruin your life if you dont keep control on it good enough. It's not really something you want to get into unless you have at least $100,000 to blow, and I dont mean the tattoo type either.

what i did was buy an account at liquidweb.com and they offer FTP accounst and subdomains, so i just set up and FTP account with space set and add a subdomain, its real easy

why do people always write the word cobrand in red?

Bruce
October 10th, 2001, 14:10
They didn't. It must be because you did a search and the word you searched for is highlighted in red.

How else would you happen to come across an 8 month old thread?

What's the point of becoming a NLC? What advantage is their being a NLC compared to senior member or anything else.

Does it make you better in your eyes than anyone else? I just don't quite get why people want to be in the NLC club.

Maybe the NCL club should be when you have reached 50,000 posts? or maybe make it like 100 so not as many people spam the board.

bigperm

I guess I should clear this up a little bit. I only posted that as a joke. I don't care about posts, or NLC status or anything like that.

Personally, I think that NLC should be at 10,000... but that will just make Coolin and Hayama-kun post THAT much more.

I wanna be the top poster with making sense and helping people, and, umm... get a title for myself?

Anyway, I think we are going off topic.

And one more thing, this should be in the paid web hosting or free webspace forum.

Trenzterra gets a lot of posts by not quite getting stuff.

By saying the NLC Club, you are saying the No Life Club Club. Like how www.wcwwrestling.com makes no sense.

I use CA co-brand. They give users okay service.

20mb space
512mb transfer
pre-installed scripts
stats
upgradable.

Bruce

They're downgrading their co-brand plans soon. I think it's gonna be something like 10 mb, 250 mb transfer or something like that.
