Now they are hosted at mountaincable premises (atleast that is what i can infer from the tracert) and compared to the before-crash netcabins it's really slow for me.
Isn't datablocks also on mountaincable? BTW the location is Ontario,Canada(i think) :)

i pinged them both from my cable connection. netcabins.com returned all 5 packets in a few seconds. datablocks.net didn't return any. of course, http://www.netcabins.com doesn't return any.

doesn't seem to be the same host. haven't tried the ftp thing though. seems like if they were on the same uplink, they'd either both be up or both be down.

doesnt really come as a suprise. They've been good friends for a while and helped each other out a lot. Maybe sharing servers with other fwp's is the way togo it keeps costs down.

There now on mountaincable which isnt much better than there previous provider. I was already to signup with can-host a paid host using them and dropped the idea as the network is fairly slow at times.

that's what i just said. it didn't work before, but now it does. it most likely just hadn't been updated by my isp yet. give it some time.

Technics was 100% correct with this. John and I are simply sharing a server in order to save some money. We split the bandwidth, I buy a server just for MySQL, and he maintains the servers for us. Seems like a good move to me. NetCabins and DataBlocks will both become much more stable when MySQL is on a separate server.

Since two people are paying for a server, I'd expect that server to be fast ya? Anyway, I hope you the best of luck on your new host being co-branded to two different companies. May the better host win ;) j/k.
