i have noticed some of the cds i burn have little skips usually within the first and last minute of the song, now they didn't have these on mp3s. some cds burn fine, others don't. these are being burned from mp3s. should i convert them into wav first? would this fix the problem? or could there be something wrong with my cd burner? i use adaptec 4 as my burning software and my burner is a plextor plexwriter 12/10/32A . much thanks.

no one has any ideas eh?
Could be the burner, my burner just flat-out doesn't work with burning audio cds anymore. :(

I had a problem just like this when I first got my burner; and my sisters boyfriend had a similar problem also.
What we found was that you need to burn the mp3's to CD slower than the fastest speed of your burner. For example... my mp3's that I burnt did what you said is happening to yours, but that was when I burnt at 8x (My burner is only 8x). So when I burn them to it at 4x, it works fine.

Burn slower that will work, use different software, and convert them before you burn. If it still doesn't work it may be your burner but probably not.
Chances are if it burns everything fine and then at the beginning and end of each song it is because it has to look for new files to burn and the you are getting buffer underun. So make sure you have no programs running while burning.

Your computer has to be a good speed to burn a CD at 8x or faster so a lot of it depends on the rest of your computer as well

yeah it should be, i just bought it back in feburary, is an AMD Althalon XP 1600+Ghz with 256 megs of ram and a 40 gig (with 20 gigs left) hard drive. the only thing that has changed is the hard drive space.

I guess just try burning something at 8x and see if that doesn't help

My burner is only 8x as well, but it refuses to work with any speed. :confused2

I've also had problems with the CD's. Don't buy GigaStore CD's...unless you want some shiny coasters. So, try experimenting with different brands, and find one that works for you. Every other brand of CD-R's I've tried worked fine for me, just not Gigastore.

Gigastorage are some of the best CD's out there...
They work fine for me. Memorex ones are good as well.
Any CD's made by Taiyo Yuden is No. 1 tho.

FujiFilm make good Cd's just don't get no brand generic ones but his problem won't have anything to do with the cds
