View Full Version : how do i get rid of the 'error' icon?

For some reason, when you view my site it has an error icon in the bottom left hand corner of the page in Internet Explorer (where it says 'Done'). How do I get rid of it? (Sorry I don't have it uploaded) :(

By correcting the error. :)

Double click the icon and a box will pop up and tell you what the error is. When you're at it check the box where it says "Always show errors" or similar.

Yeah, fixing the error would help, but I think you could also do something like this in the <body> tag:

<body onError="return false">

I have seen something like that before... The error will still be there, but I think that the icon won't be displayed.

...but it's uploaded now go here : http://corrsdirect.digitalrice.com/index2.htm . (that's a direct URL, not the -------- address I use)

I only uploaded the index2 and the QOTW page so only those ones will have that error.

So what can I do to fix the error? What is it exactly? :mad: It's really annoying! :devious2:

Anyhow that icon is certainly appearing due to some javascript errors either in syntax or something missing.As we cannot see your page we cannot say anything....
Or Atleast paste that javascript code here.....

Must be a problem on your end, I can access the page fine.

I'd say the error is because you're calling a nonexistent function from your <BODY> tag, there is no JavaScript on your page.

Sorry, digital rice was down for a few hours, but it should work now. Check it out someone and tell me how to fix it! :p

I already answered you. You're calling a function that doesn't exist. Either write the script or get rid of the call.

Ummm I don't understand NitroBoy...I didn't have any JavaScript in there previously why should I add it in? I need HELP here! :cry2:

It's best to put javascript in between the head tags because it reads the javascript before you tell it to do anything with the script.

Look at your <BODY> tag, see the onLoad call to a function called MM_preloadImages? Look at the JavaScript on your page. There isn't any? Ahh, then that's what's causing the error, you're calling the JavaScript function MM_preloadImages but MM_preloadImages doesn't exist. You have one of two ways to solve this problem. You can either a) get rid of the onLoad call to MM_preloadImages, or b) write the script, or just copy it from one of your other pages, one that doesn't produce an error. That's why you'd need to add in JavaScript.

No what I mean is, why do I need Javascript? I'm not preloading images am I??? Can't it just be normal HTML with JavaScript? Cuz I don't really want to complicate it. :confused:

yes you are preloading images
to remove it, go to the "<body>" line and at the end remove the code that starts with "Onload..."
