How the hell do you "enable" Javascript if it is already enabled on your computer? I need to get into my Hotmail account RIGHT NOW and I can't because apparently Javascript is enabled, which is a load of crap, because I checked in IE's settings and it IS enabled.

And don't tell me to upgrade to IE6, I won't, it's pointless, because I'm formatting like tomorrow and besides it probably won't fix anything, will it?

I'm using IE 5.

If you are using Java that came with IE I would upgrade to something that you can find at sun systems website. They have much better programs to run Java

Look, upgrading with something else is hardly going to help. I mean, everything suggests that Javascript is working, but something is blocking it. Something, like Norton's, perhaps. Do you think that's possible, as I think it's the most likely suggestion. [When I get home], I'm going to have a play with that. There's no point downloading and adding all kinds of stuff to make it work, tomorrow is the format-day, so there's no point.

If there is no point, then what is the point in asking if you are formating tomorrow. I tried to help you, and you say my advice is pointless well then so is the thread

Your comment didn't even answer my question. All I want to do is fix something that was working perfectly fine before, not add on a whole lot of junk. If it would work before without it, why won't it work now? I can't access my Hotmail account or open up new windows which use Javascript. I don't want a whole bunch of fancy Javascript stuff, all I want is to read my Hotmail and be able to use simple Javascript. Okay? And if I sound blunt, it's because this is DRIVING ME INSANE.

I guess the only thing to try would be to go to

Tools>internet options>advanced>restore defaults. If it still doesn't work, be happy you are re-installing tomorrow

I've already tried that.

No, you don't understand. I cannot wait until the format. I have to get into my inbox LAST NIGHT and I STILL HAVEN'T ffs!

Does Black Ice block Javascript? I just got it. Would that be the problem?

I am so stressed right now *FFS!!!!!*

I tried Black Ice for a couple of days quite a while back and it blocked just about everything. Although I am no longer familiar with the settings, experiment with the security levels. You might need to put it on minimum if that is what is stuffing up javascript :(

Grr, all I need to do is have Javascript!

Okay, well, I have it set on "Trusting: Allow all traffic" but it hasn't seemed to make any difference whatsoever, now I've stopped the BlackIce Engine, and Application Protection. I'm going to see if it will work now, but I'm pretty sure I tried that last night, and it didn't make any difference.

Well it's working okay now, before the format I just fixed Opera (wasn't working) and checked it through that. Now everything seems to be OK, but the default font size in IE6 is HUGE, and I can't find how to change it, the View > Font Size thing is on "smallest", no change. :confused2
